In the bedroom, there was a thick smell of medicine lingering in the air.

Shang Yan was naked as he leaned against the bed. Only his private parts were covered with a thin cotton blanket.

Qu Xiao knelt beside him and occasionally wiped the sweat off his forehead with a tissue. She stole a glance at Shang Yan’s well defined muscles, and took the opportunity to touch them on purpose.

Shang Yan coughed lightly and asked, “How much longer?”

Qu Xiao raised her head to look at the clock on the wall and turned off the medicine fumigation machine. Then, she took out a few silver needles and said, “Bear with me.”

Shang Yan nodded and stared at her. Full of focus, Qu Xiao inserted needles into his leg muscles at certain acupuncture points, to test for nerve reaction. Seeing her disappointed expression, Shang Yan comforted her with a calm voice, “It’s okay. I’m used to it.”

This sentence made Qu Xiao’s heart break. She raised her eyes and stared at Shang Yan. The needle in her hand slipped.

Qu Xiao was dizzy and lost in his kiss for a few seconds. Then, she mustered up the courage to wrap her arms around Shang Yan’s shoulders and take the initiative to sit cross-legged on his waist. Shang Yan said indifferently. Qu Xiao lowered her eyes shyly. Her fingers gripped the lace lines of her nightgown as she used both hands to hold her boiling hot cheeks.

Intense images appeared in both of their minds. Shang Yan’s brows were tightly knitted. At this moment, he could not tell if he just wanted to protect his wife, or that Qu Xiao already had a special place in his heart.
