However, Big Boss Li was full of energy and her objections were futile. She could only acquiesce to him and later lay spent in his arms as he kissed her. “It hurts…” She said teary-eyed.

Big Boss Li hugged onto her, satisfied, and said in a husky voice, “Where does it hurt? I’ll help you rub it.” His hands started to wander around her body again.

“Rub your head!” Xia Ling smacked him several times with a pillow. Unfortunately, she didn’t have much strength left in her hands, and he continued to smile cheekily through her smacks.

“You bully… boohoo…” She said unhappily and tried to struggle out of his arms.

“Be good, don’t struggle.” Li Lei lowered his head to kiss her neck. “If you continue moving like that I’ll be tempted to go one more time… we still have that ceremony to attend.” He swore that if not for that ceremony, he would make sure that she was unable to get off the bed the next time.

Now, he could only restrain himself. Who was the one that was being bullied here?

Xia Ling felt the hardening of a certain location in his body and hurriedly stopped moving, for fear that he would carry out his threat. Boohoohoo… the rascal… the bastard… he always bullied her! She turned away so that she wouldn’t face him and felt into a deep sleep, fatigued from all the activity.

Seeing her quiet down, Li Lei also closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The two cups of fruit wine lay full on the bedside table under the moonlight shining in from the window.

The next day, Xia Ling couldn’t wake up as expected. Her eyes were still closed when a certain Big Boss dragged her out of bed. She mumbled, “I’m so sleepy… let me sleep a little more.”

Li Lei found her clothes and helped her to dress. “Raise your hand. Okay… now the other one.” As he did so, he chided. “Miss, look at the time. I’ve washed your face and changed you. I’ve even chosen your shoes and accessories for you. If you still don’t wake up, don’t you think you’re a bit too much?”

Xia Ling grumbled. “You’re too much…”

Li Lei ignored her grumblings as he combed her hair and smoothed her outfit, before helping her sleepwalk to the toilet. He sat her down in front of the sink and stuffed a toothbrush into her hands. “Hold this… okay, brush your teeth yourself. I’m going to get breakfast.”

With that, he walked out of the room.

Xia Ling didn’t open her eyes at all. She placed her head down on the sink and fell asleep instantly.

When Li Lei brought breakfast back to the room, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry seeing her sleeping in the toilet. He reached out and pinched her small nose. “Hey you, wake up! Are you a pig? Today’s your big day!”

“You’re the pig.” She murmured in her dreams. “Li Lei, are you an idiot or what? The moon is in the water… why are you trying to burn it…”

Li Lei was speechless.

He shook his head and was about to give up when he heard the doorbell ring.

He opened the door and saw an old couple standing outside. The man was dressed in a cotton priestly robe, and the woman was in a casual long dress. They looked very good together. He was surprised to see them and greeted. “Dad, Mum, good morning.”

Xia Family Head gave a hearty laugh. “Xiao Lei, morning! You’re up? Did you come here this early to look for Xiao Ling?”

Li Lei laughed awkwardly with him. It looked like only Madam Xia was aware that he had sneakily climbed in through the window yesterday. He said, “I brought Xiao Ling her breakfast.”

“This girl is so lazy… just like someone.” Xia Family Head laughed.

Madam Xia wasn’t so impressed. “Li Lei, I haven’t given you the red packets to signify that you can change your greeting yet. Call us uncle and auntie.” She might have closed an eye about last night and wasn’t going to object to their marriage. However, she still needed to put Li Lei through some tests as a future son-in-law.

Li Lei felt a little depressed but could only say respectfully, “Yes, auntie.”

Xia Family Head smilingly watched as his wife chided his future son-in-law. “Xiao Lei, where’s Xiao Ling? Why hasn’t she come out yet? We’ve been here talking for quite some time now.”

Li Lei hurriedly said, “She’s here, she’s here. Girls tend to take a little longer getting ready in the morning.”

Xia Family Head nodded in understanding.

Li Lei invited them into the room. “Dad, Mum… oh no… auntie… don’t remain standing here at the doorway. Come in, have a seat. I’ll go call Xiao Ling over.” The room prepared for Xiao Ling was a suite, with a living room space for meals and hosting guests. The breakfast that Li Lei brought back was placed on a little square table with a tasseled table cloth in the middle of the room.

Xia Family Head walked in and sat down on the sofa near the window.

Li Lei went into the bedroom to call Xia Ling out.

Madam Xia was keen to see her daughter after only having a short conversation with her the night before. She said, “Let me go in with you to get her.” She walked into the room despite Li Lei’s attempts to stop her.

There was no one in front of the dressing table.

And no one in the walk-in closet.

The bed was also empty.

Madam Xia asked suspiciously, “Where did that girl go?”

Li Lei’s expression was embarrassed. “I… I’ll go get her.” He walked into the toilet and lightly shook Xia Ling’s arm. “Get up now… your mum is here.”

“Liar…” Xia Ling was drooling in her sleep. “Don’t disturb me…”

“I’m not lying to you.” Li Lei was close to tears.

Madam Xia’s voice rang out from behind. “So you’re here? You’re not awake yet?” Madam Xia didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry. When she was following the entertainment news, she always saw this girl filming things late at night or early in the morning. Waking up at the break of dawn to film in the outskirts of town was not uncommon. Why didn’t she think that this girl would be so hard to wake in the morning?

Xia Ling continued to sleep like a pig in the toilet in front of the sink.

Madam Xia walked forward and called, “Xiao Ling? Get up now… we have lots to do today.”

Li Lei nervously laughed, fearing that Madam Xia would get angry. “The relaxing wine that you sent over yesterday was too effective.”

Madam Xia said, “Really?” She turned around and saw the two full cups sitting on the bedside table untouched.

Li Lei didn’t know how to respond.

“So noisy…” Xia Ling was still complaining. “Li Lei, I told you not to torture me last night. And you’re here again this morning. Why are you so insatiable, you bastard…”

She fell asleep again.

Cold sweat started to form on Li Lei’s brows. Madam Xia had instructed them to have a good rest yesterday, but he didn’t listen and had bothered her deep into the night. As such, she couldn’t wake up this morning. Wouldn’t his future mother-in-law be furious if she found out about this?

He carefully looked up at Madam Xia’s face.

Madam Xia’s eagle-like eyes spotted the suspicious red spots on Xia Ling’s neck.

She glanced over at Li Lei. “I will tell the others that Xiao Ling seems to be having trouble getting used to the food and water here since it’s her first time in the mountains. You both can take a rest in the morning. I’ll push all the segments that require her to the afternoon. Take good care of her.”
