Gu Lin smiled as she reveled in her own intelligence.

The personal assistant was too happy seeing that he had finally persuaded this idiotic rich girl to leave the place. He hurriedly asked the salespeople, “Is there a back door here? How can we avoid the crowd outside?”

One of the salespeople told him, “If you take a left outside the door, you’ll see a box elevator.”

The personal assistant didn’t even say a word of thanks before he hustled Gu Lin out of the store.

They had only just left when another salesperson turned and chided the salesperson who had suggested them the escape route. “Xiao Zhou, why did you tell them where to go?! That rich missus was so arrogant! You should’ve just let her bump into Ye Xingling and put her under fire!”

“Don’t worry.” Xiao Zhou gave a wry smile. “She dared bully the people in our store… do you think I will let her go so easily? Even though Ye Xingling took the escalators up, there are many onlookers taking the box elevator up. The pathway to the box elevators is also packed. They want to escape? Fat hope!”

The manager on duty coldly laughed as well. “She hurt Jia Jia’s face… how can we not take revenge for Jia Jia? Xiao Zhou, go inform the building security to stop the box elevators for a while. Tell them that one of our customers took a dress from our store before paying and we want to chase them down.”

Gu Lin had left in too much of a hurry such that she was still wearing the dress from the store and hadn’t settled the bill yet.

“Okay!” Xiao Zhou was someone that enjoyed witnessing showdowns. Thus, he hurried off to do as he was asked.

On the other end, Xia Ling was walking up from the escalators with a crowd of people following her. Many heard that the Diva was going to have a face-off with someone and followed along to watch the scene pan out. There were also many reporters that were called over by Lin Yunan, waiting to pounce and take photos so they could be the first to break the news.

The most terrifying was a bunch of online reporters that had switched on a live broadcast of the commotion.

They were all from sites with huge throughputs and eyeballs. As such, the entire online community was aware of the happenings in the mall and were following the scene through the live broadcasts. Many were discussing what was going on and were excitedly awaiting the outcome.

Xia Ling took her time like a queen leading her troops and walked leisurely to the store in question.

The train of her red dress swirled around her feet as she walked, making her look even more regal amongst the crowd. She stood out from the crowd such that everyone could not tear their eyes away.

She reached the store and walked in.

The salespeople were long aware that she was arriving. They now donned huge smiles as they welcomed her. “Wow, it’s really Miss Ye! Welcome to our store, you look even more ravishing than on television!”

“Miss Ye, you have been my idol for many years!”

“Miss Ye, I really love your songs!”

The salespeople were happy to see her.

Xia Ling smiled as she accepted their greetings, but her gaze swept across the store seeking out Gu Lin.

“I heard that Miss Gu Lin was shopping in your store. Miss Ye is here to look for her. Where is she?” Lin Yunan spoke up.

“Is this Manager Lin?” The manager on duty piped up animatedly. “Miss Gu was indeed shopping here just a while ago, but she heard that you were coming and left with her personal assistant!”

“What? Gu Lin ran away?!” One of the reporters following behind Xia Ling shouted out loudly in surprise.

“Gu Lin ran away?”

“Gu Lin ran away!”

His words spread like wildfire through the crowd. Everyone was upset. What was this Miss Gu doing? They were all here to see them have a showdown! It was so irresponsible to just run away!

They started to boo with no regard at all to Gu Lin’s status as the daughter of a rich family.

“Do you guys think that Gu Lin is feeling guilty?” Someone in the crowd suggested.

“Exactly.” Someone else said. “If she wasn’t feeling guilty, why would she run away? That’s so unlike a wealthy daughter…. running away with her tail between her legs. The Gu Family should be ashamed of her!”

“Yes, indeed! So much for being a rich daughter! How useless!”

They had all followed Xia Ling here and were subconsciously biased towards Xia Ling. Now that they heard that Gu Lin had run away and they no longer had a showdown to witness, they pinned all the blame on Gu Lin.

Poor Gu Lin was already being judged by the crowd without even having made an appearance.

Xia Ling asked in a warm tone, “Can you tell me where Gu Lin went towards?” She was extremely polite, drawing direct juxtaposition to Gu Lin’s arrogance and disrespectfulness earlier. All the salespeople were impressed with just this one question.

They congratulated themselves internally for having chosen the right idol to support and told her helpfully, “Gu Lin walked towards the box elevators. Miss Ye, do you want to go there too? I’ll show you the way!”

Xia Ling nodded and thanked them gracefully. Lin Yunan had already issued instructions to the bodyguards. Two guards separated from the pack around Xia Ling and went ahead to chase after Gu Lin.

Xia Ling glanced around and realized that there was a sales lady holding onto her face, blood seeping through her fingers. That sales lady was looking longingly at her as if she had something to say.

“What’s wrong?” Xia Ling asked.

That sales lady started to cry.

The salesperson standing to the side replied on her behalf, “Miss Ye, when Gu Lin was trying on the clothes here earlier, she made some unreasonable requests. Jia Jia here was unwilling to comply and Miss Gu threw a hat on her face. The hat cut Jia Jia’s face.”

Before Xia Ling had time to react, the eyes of the tabloid reporters on the side had already lit up!

They trained their camera lenses on the sales lady. “Miss, can you put your hand down so we can see your face?” For a rich daughter like Gu Lin to have assaulted a sales lady was also a scandal worth reporting. After all, no reporter would mind having more news to report!

The sales lady hesitated. However, the whole reason she wanted to get Xia Ling’s attention was to publicize Gu Lin’s horrible actions. There was a limit as to how much she could get back from Gu Lin for throwing the hat at her, but if she harnessed the help of the media and netizens, they could all help her to seek justice!

As such, she lowered her hand.

Everyone sucked in a breath of cold air. Oh my, there was a huge cut on the sales lady’s face! Blood was flowing down and it looked frightening. Who knew if it would leave a scar? The poor girl!

The reporters snapped photos of her face and asked, “Is it painful? Did Gu Lin apologize to you?”

“Apologize?!” The manager on duty huffed and replied angrily. “She blew her top at Jia Jia! Even thought Jia Jia was injured, Miss Gu wouldn’t allow her to look for tissues to stop the bleeding and forced her to continue working!” He recounted what had happened while adding oil to the fire.
