Li Lei stood beside the window.

These years, it seemed that nothing that happened was big enough to trouble him. He patted James’ shoulder and smiled. “Thank you, James.” The discussion ended like this.

James thought that this family was crazy, but since it was their family affair, there was no room for him to interfere.

He gave him a complicated look. “I hope that you won’t regret this in the future.”

He turned around and walked out.

The examination room fell silent. Xia Yingluo gently touched her lower abdomen and felt the power of the World Tree surging within her. There was a strange peaceful feeling in her heart. She had a tough life growing up, fighting and ascending to the throne… Everything she did was probably for this moment, to pass on the genes of the strongest warrior in Skatana to the next generation.

The only ugliness in all of it was Wei Lingnan.

She raised her head and glanced at the man who was nearby.

Wei Lingnan stood alone in a corner of the room. A few Li family members stood elsewhere. He looked at them from afar and was deep in thought. There was a glimmer in his calm eyes.

“I want to give birth to it no matter what it is.” Xia Yingluo looked at him. “Nothing else concerns you.”

Wei Lingnan lowered his voice. “So you don’t know what it is?”

“Is that important? It is my child.”

Wei Lingnan inched towards her. Before he could get to her, a few men from the Li Family blocked him. They gave him a warning look and prevented him from getting any closer to Xia Yingluo. Thus, Wei Lingnan stopped moving. “Only the queen can be pregnant with the World Tree, but you said that you aren’t the queen?”

Xia Yingluo’s voice was cold. “Even I don’t know what’s going on. Perhaps the rules on your planet have changed and not only the queen can be pregnant with the World Tree.”

Wei Lingnan fell silent. He also considered this possibility.

Although the queen of Skatana Planet always gave birth to the World Tree, no one knew if the princesses who died before ascending the throne as queen had the ability to breed. Was this ability unique to the Queen? Or was any female of the Skatana Planet able to do it? No one knew for sure. Perhaps, just as Xia Yingluo said, many rules were changed when they reached Earth.

Every planet had its own rules.

Watching him sigh, she added, “Besides, haven’t you already found your Queen Gu Jinxiu?”

The slight sarcasm in her voice made him frown.

There was no doubt that Gu Jinxiu was the queen. She had regained her past memories and could use the powers of Skatana. As for Xia Yingluo? She had no memories or abilities. Even if she were pregnant with the World Tree, she was relying on the World Tree’s powers to protect her. She was a weak and vulnerable human being.

“You can’t give birth to the World Tree,” Wei Lingnan said.

Xia Yingluo’s face fell and anger brewed in her.

This man kept interfering in her life and even wanted to control her decision of giving birth to the World Tree?!

“It’s none of your business,” she said through gritted teeth.

“You aren’t the queen.” Wei Lingnan looked at her without giving in. “Your body can’t withstand such a burden. Plus, haven’t you forgotten the rejection mechanism on Earth? If you give birth to it, you will face repercussions and will die with it.”

“That’s my problem, you don’t have to worry about it.” Earth stopped rejecting her a long time ago and she had the ability to give the World Tree sufficient nutrients. Although this burden was heavy, she had to deal with it. She sneered at Wei Lingnan. “Or are you just afraid that your queen will be unhappy? If you knew about today, you wouldn’t have almost beaten me to death.”

She turned around and brushed across his shoulders as she walked away.

He stood in place and almost tried to reach for her but held back. At this point in time, nothing else he said would be meaningful. Wei Lingnan thought about how great it was if she were the queen. He liked her and she was pregnant with their child. The future of their kind had hope and everything would be perfect. However, the reality was a huge joke. The queen was someone else and the World Tree and her were things that should not exist from the start.

He should get rid of her without hesitation.

But for some reason, he could not wear to do it.

With many thoughts on his mind, he returned to his base. Seeing that he was upset, the workers all trembled.

“Chief Wei, Miss Gu is here.” Someone carefully knocked on his office door.

“Let her in.” His voice was very dark.

Gu Jinxiu wore a finely crafted and embroidered dress. She tied up her jet black hair and her beautiful makeup made her look noble and elegant. She walked towards Wei Lingnan and gently asked him, “What’s wrong? You don’t look too happy.”

Wei Lingnan said, “I’m fine.”

After a long silence, he finally told her. “Xia Yingluo is pregnant.”

Originally, he did not want to talk about this, but it was his loyalty to the queen that made him share what happened. After something so serious happened, Gu Jinxiu had the right to know. Although, he knew that this would bring danger to Xia Yingluo.

There was a hint of pain in Wei Lingnan’s heart. It seemed that his child with her could not be kept in the long run.

Gu Jinxiu’s face turned pale and she asked in a low voice, “Is the child yours?”

Wei Lingnan did not hide anything. “I’m sorry.”

“When did this happen?”

“Before you were awakened. Perhaps it’s because of the rules of Earth. It only happened recently.”

Gu Jinxiu felt better. No matter what, this happened before she was awakened, so it did not count as a betrayal. In fact, he never betrayed her before. His true queen was that woman and she was just an inferior imposter…

She forced a smile. “I don’t blame you. How’s the child?”

Wei Lingnan shook his head and said, “Don’t worry.” So what if she was not willing? For his queen, even if he offended the entire world, he would not let that child be born.

Gu Jinxiu was silent for a long time before saying, “Let her keep her child.”

Wei Lingnan lifted his head. There was some surprise in his usually calm eyes.
