He knew that the young student called Eylon had a high-quality Florist occupation. With this knowledge, he wanted to gamble and expose the fact that he had unscathed Nightshade flower roots. 

Even unscathed [Trash] quality Nightshade flower roots were worth 50 gold coins at the bare minimum while [Common] ones were worth more than 300 gold coins.

This was something he didn’t expect and Shane could have never imagined that Mortal grade ingredients were so valuable!

As such, he was astonished about this price and pondered whether he should sell a few unscathed roots or not.

However, when he researched more about unscathed Nightshade flower roots, he found out that the chance to find a single unscathed Nightshade flower root was less than one in a million.

When Shane read that he was baffled, thinking that he misread something. Yet, after reading carefully through the forum thread he found on PrimWeb, the ratio was still 1:1,000,000.

As such, he couldn’t help but be overjoyed, thinking that he had won in the lottery before he looked at the Nightshade flower roots one more time.

But this time, he took them outside his spatial ring one after another to carefully inspect them. Though his mood plummeted with every Nightshade flower root that he retrieved from his spatial ring.

In the end, after he looked through all Nightshade flower roots in his possession, he couldn’t help but sigh deeply.

Out of the roots he had, only 20 seemed to be truly unscathed, the others had minuscule damages that had probably been caused by external factors.

The only positive aspect was that these 20 unscathed roots were the 4 [Rare] ones he had in addition to [16] Uncommon roots.

When he saw this, Shane was confused and tried to recall where he had seen these roots before.

‘The center of the Shadowsnake valley had the thickest transmuted mana…That means the Uncommon and rare Nightshade flowers were there…Did the Colossal Darkness python protect them from everything that could harm the Nightshade flower’s roots?’

This was the only solution, Shane could think of right now as there was no other logical explanation for the situation he faced.

There had to be a good reason for the Colossal Darkness python to act like this and the most likely reason should have been the potency of the [Rare] Nightshade flowers’ darkness transmutation.

While protecting the [Rare] flowers, a few [Uncommon] Nightshade flowers were automatically protected with the others.

This was advantageous for Shane, and now everything made sense to him.

‘If I would have simply stumbled upon several hundred unscathed Nightshade flower roots…it would have been weird…They’re already rare to find and I was relatively fortunate….I just hope that the 20 unscathed Nightshade flower roots I have are enough to satisfy Talia and her friends….If not, I’ll have to think of a way to plant them by myself.

That would cause my prior plan to be completely destroyed…’

Shane was worried and with all the thoughts churning through his mind he couldn’t calm down. He was beginning to grow restless when he received a message from Talia, telling him that they had left the shelter.

When he read that, Shane jumped on Umbra’s back, telling him to use his fastest pace to rush towards the shelter’s direction.

Only a few minutes later, he saw the outline of Talia and her friends and asked Umbra to slow down.

The moment Talia’s friends saw Umbra, they were scared beyond measure only to see a young student on the 50-meter long snake’s back.

Less than a minute later, Shane jumped from Umbra’s back greeting everyone heartily, while trying to hide his worry and uncertainty.

However, Talia noticed this and immediately asked him what was going on.

Scratching the back of his head, Shane responded,

“I was under the impression that I had found a few unscathed [Common] nightshade flower roots…but apparently they all have minuscule damages…and the same goes for the [Uncommon] ones…there are only a few unscathed Nightshade flower roots I have..much less than I initially thought… I don’t know if we can duplicate everything at the pace we…or I initially planned..”

When everyone heard this, they frowned deeply as their previous joy about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity hit rock bottom, as Elyon asked

“So….you don’t have an unscathed high-quality Nightshade flower root?”

Looking at the young student, who was around 1.8 meters tall, with short blond hair, blue eyes, and a sickly looking physique, Shane couldn’t help but shake his head.

The tall blond-haired student was most likely Elyon, at least that was Shane assumed as he answered,

“I have a few unscathed Nightshade flower roots, around 4 [Rare] and 16 [Uncommon]. I know that this is good, but I had hoped that we could duplicate the Nightshade flower field faster!…”

Elyon was not sure whether Shane was bragging or being plain stupid after he heard his words.

‘Maybe he just doesn’t know how the duplication process of Nightshade flowers works…’ He told himself as he calmed down the excitement that had erupted within him.

‘4 rare and 16 uncommon unscathed Nightshade flower roots!!! We hit the jackpot!!’

Taking a deep breath he replied

“I don’t want to offend you, but these 20 unscathed roots are more than enough to create as many damaged Nightshade flower roots as you want. At least if I, Mark, Clara, and Louis work on it! 

If we are careful enough and you weren’t lying, we should be able to create more than 100 damaged Nightshade flower roots of the same quality! If we were to decrease the quality, we might be able to create 500 at a lower quality.

If necessary we can create more than 1,000 Nightshade flower roots two quality grades lower than the unscathed flower root we used!

That is if we do that in a single sitting! As long as we have the correct equipment, enough mana, nutrition, and so on, nothing should happen. This excludes possible accidents, but to put it simply, those 20 unscathed Nightshade flowers you were talking about are worth a huge fortune. Why else would higher quality unscathed Nightshade flower roots be so expensive?”

Not only Shane but everyone else was extremely shocked as well to hear Elyon’s words. 

He was unable to hold himself back anymore. He took out one of the [Rare] Nightshade flower roots and carefully handed it to Elyon who was astonished for a moment before Shane said

“Examine it, please….If you talk like that you should be able to tell if it’s really unscathed! It would be devastating if I were to lie to you right now… after you are done examining the first, please check the others as well!!” 

Elyon was humbled to see the level of trust Shane placed on him given the fact that this was their first meeting. He could only stare at the black-haired youth for a moment.

Umbra noticed how nervous Shane was which caused him to look at everything with interest, when Louis, the [Plant researcher] approached Elyon to take a look at the Nightshade flower root.

He was unable to see something directly, but using the skill [Plant research] his occupation’s name stemmed from, he could see the characteristics of Nightshade flowers.

“Prefered habitat is an area of utter darkness…Requires medium nutritious but moist soil…perfect would be highly nutritious and soggy soil…usable fertilizer [Faruo Asald] what’s that?.. Personal characteristics…OH! I can see how much you can cut off the root before it’s damaged..that’s amazing!”

Everyone heard Louis mumbling and Shane was able to tell who the young student was. He guessed the name of the boy with black hair, brown hair, and a weak physique similar to Elyon based on the information Talia told him the day before.

Based on what everyone heard, the [Plant researcher] occupation was great. Elyon smiled brightly before he added,

“It’s definitely an [Rare] unscathed Nightshade flower root!! And from my skill, I can tell which part of the root I can cut without injuring it! As long as I have high-quality secateurs, there shouldn’t be a way that something goes wrong.”

Shane smiled brightly when he heard everything, yet, it was not over! There were still 19 more roots he deemed unscathed. Even if his eyesight was pretty good, there were always things he might not notice.

In the end, after half an hour passed, they came to a conclusion that not only 10 [Uncommon] Nightshade flower roots were unscathed, but all 4 [Rare] ones were unscathed as well!

This made everyone happy and before Shane could even ask the others to consider accepting his suggested changes to their demands, the eight students chorused in unison that they were accepting his renewed offer!

They had yet to enter his world or figure out what kind of person he was but had already accepted signing a system contract with him which was something he didn’t expect.

However, it was rather advantageous and once everything was done, the eight young students wanted to enter the Hidden Paradise to take a look at it.

Shane couldn’t help but smile at their impatience which seemed to envelop him as he opened a small portal in front of him.

When everyone had entered his world, Shane turned towards Umbra who eyed him as he said with a radiant smile.

“I think we encountered the most suitable group we could have met!!”
