Sure enough, the boss asked gently the next minute, “So Manager Yang will be joining you after dinner?”

Manager Yang couldn’t quite hear what the boss was saying from a distance, but he could see his little buddy nodding heartlessly. “Probably.”

“Probably?” asked the boss caringly. “You made plans?”

“No, not really,” Yan Shuyu explained, “But Manager Yang didn’t mention that he has other plans tonight, so I am guessing he will be hanging out with us.”

Oh, so you two had been together for so long that there was already tacit understanding between the two of you? Nevertheless, the boss smiled and asked, “Isn’t it better if you ask him his opinion before making that decision for him?”

“Is it?” Yan Shuyu was never a stubborn person. The serious look on the boss had her convinced. Lamenting about how thorough a person the boss was, she nodded her understanding and said, “Okay, let me ask him then.”

As soon as she had finished saying that, she saw her little buddy standing not too far away from her out of the corners of her eyes. She quickly waved at him and asked, “Manager Yang, are you coming with us?”

Manager Yang originally felt that his little buddy’s question was very unnecessary. But, thinking about Boss Zhou, he suddenly got it. How did Boss Zhou have so much free time today? To a point that he started video chatting with Yan Shuyu as soon as they sat down and the call lasted all the way till the end of dinner, leaving no time for Yanyan to eat. So, all in all, Boss Zhou just didn’t want him to be too close with Yanyan while he was away.

Granted, with Boss Zhou’s intelligence, he must know that there was nothing more than friendship between the two of them. Meaning, Boss Zhou’s jealousy wasn’t directed toward him; it was directed at any adult male around Yanyan. Yang Zifeng, having arrived at the conclusion, must lament how someone as carefree as Boss Zhou was such a jealous man deep down inside.

And this was just the beginning of their relationship. Manager Yang wondered how his little buddy was confident that she could break up with someone as domineering as Boss Zhou amicably.

Lamenting in his mind was one thing, Manager Yang would not have the guts to remind his little buddy about that. Saving himself would be the right thing to do in this situation. He immediately shook his head, smiled, and said, “Nah, I’ll pass. I am going to meet up with a few friends online to play games. You have fun.”

“Eh?” Yan Shuyu, who was only asking for formality, was really surprised. “You hadn’t mentioned earlier?”

Yang Zifeng walked up and continued to lie through his teeth. “Oh yeah, I made plans over dinner. You were on the call with Boss Zhou so I didn’t mention.”

Yan Shuyu didn’t pay attention to whether Manager Yang had made plans with his friends over dinner so she nodded unsuspectingly and said, “Okay, hurry back then. We will go by ourselves.”

She admired the boss even more now. He was so right about it.

The boss, in the video chat, did not take any credit. Seeing that they have arrived at an agreement, he said, “Okay, you have fun. I am heading in to work now.”

Yan Shuyu put away her cellphone, and they all went to the underground parking lot. They got into their respective cars and headed their own ways.

Distracted by the boss, Yan Shuyu finally remembered to ask the kiddos after they had gotten inside of the car. “You haven’t told me where you want to go yet.”

The little kiddos had reached an agreement earlier already. Both of them said at the same time, “Bumper cars!”

Learning her lesson, Yan Shuyu turned around and said solemnly, “Okay. We can go for bumper cars, but only for one hour. Then we will head home. No disagreements.”

Both little kiddos nodded docilely, but Yan Shuyu, feeling that wasn’t good enough, made them pinky promise her before she had Zhang Yang take them to the plaza. The little kiddos played happily for an hour. And then, as though there was a timer going off, they told Yan Shuyu exactly at 8:40 PM together, “Mommy/Aunty Yan, time is up.”

Both Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi have watches. Yan Shuyu, on the other hand, was the one who didn’t have one. She couldn’t possibly have her cellphone in hand when she was playing bumper cars, so she had the two kids be mindful of the time and have them oversee each other. That technique seemed to have worked very well. 

Yan Shuyu got off the bumper car, pleased. “Okay. Time is up. Let’s head home~”
