Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 147

Chapter 147: You Support A World I Cannot Hold

One month passed with Su Bai spending his days as usual.

Besides going to school and the manor, he would occasionally go to the Blue Moon Cultivation House and his master’s place. Of course, he also hung out with Chen Ruoxue.

Whenever he had time, he would train with Yang Zhou and the others to help them improve.

He himself mainly focused on learning theoretical knowledge, various monster illustrations, and fighting methods.

The strength of the evolved Sanctuary Wood Spirit had once again reached the peak of a high-level warlord, and it was not far from breaking through to the commander level. The Little Tyrant was quite unpredictable for Su Bai, however. Despite eating thirty bottles of Purgatory Fire potions out of the prepared fifty, it did not evolve and was still a mid-level warlord.

If it could not break through despite eating all the Purgatory Fire potions, then he would have to wait for the next adventure to collect more.

The only gratifying thing was the baby fox, which successfully broke through to a low-level warlord on November 19. So far, all of his four pets had become warlords.

As for his pet dragon, its strength was steadily reaching the peak high-level warlord. As long as it entered a monster wilderness and swallowed some blood monsters, it could break through to the commander grade.

In addition, it could take back the power of those blood subordinates that it had previously transformed and infected, henceforth completing its breakthrough immediately. However, Su Bai did not let it do this. It had very few blood subordinates, and this method was not appropriate.

He did not need the Little Blood dragon to break through immediately, and it was ideal to leave those blood subordinates be in the meantime.

On the morning of December 3, when he was still sleeping in bed, a furry and warm figure suddenly pressed itself against him, making him quite breathless.

Su Bai opened his eyes to see a huge, fluffy white cat’s head on his chest. A pair of big round purple eyes looked directly at him. He reacted helplessly. “What do you want? Don’t you know how heavy you are?”

“Howl!”

The cub glanced unhappily at him and held his face with its two snowy-white paws. Hmph! Stupid Ah Bai, get up quickly; I’m hungry. Also, don’t you know that you’ll be beaten by a girl for calling her heavy? Do you know how to have a girlfriend?

Su Bai: “…”

After thinking about it, he still chose to be quiet.

Silence was golden, after all.

“Then let me go; I have to get up. How can I get up with you pressing on me?”

He exhaled and looked at it.

Alas, Purple Jade did not have any intentions of getting up; it wagged its tail and hugged him over the quilt.

In desperation, Su Bai had to push the cub aside. In fact, he could still hold it after receiving numerous pets’ backfeeding.

“Howl!”

Ah Bai, hug me again!

The cub lay on him once more.

Purple Jade actually wanted its owner to hug it, but he had not hugged it since it became bigger.

Su Bai said, exasperated, “…Why are you trying to be so intimate?”

After holding the cub for a bit, he put it aside and got up to put on his clothes. It was early winter in early December, so he already needed to put on a sweater.

He put on another thick windbreaker, then went to wash his face, and brush his teeth.

After washing up, he released the pets to feed them food as usual. When they finished eating, he put them into his contract book and left for school.

Today was Friday, while tomorrow was Sunday, December 4. It was the start of the professional Pet Tamer assessment, which was divided into two parts: the written examination and the practical examination. He had to take the written examination tomorrow.

“Howl!”

Ah Bai, I don’t want to return to the contract book. Can’t I carry you to school?

The cub looked at him and blinked persuasively.

“Alright, then, but be obedient and don’t gambol around.”

Su Bai glanced at his pet.

Taking two books, he rode on the cub’s back. It howled to the sky and set off toward school at a brisk pace.

He naturally felt good riding on his pet. It felt like he was riding an enlarged puppet cat as it was soft, warm, and comfortable.

Many people cast envious glances his way as they walked on the road.

It was such an adorable, big cat, so they wondered what it felt like to ride on it.

“Wow! Give me a ride, too; I wanna ride on Purple Jade!”

Yang Zhou shouted at the school gates.

“Howl!”

Get lost! Besides Ah Bai and girls, I won’t let anyone else ride me.

The cub lifted its head and summoned green light under its feet, bringing it to the school gate at once.

“We’re here. Thank you, lassie!”

Su Bai jumped off the cub’s back and caressed its soft cheek.

“Howl!”

I want a substantial thank you!

Looking at its owner with its big round eyes, the cub licked his cheek with its pink tongue.

“…”

Su Bai knew that it was not so simple to satisfy this pet of his.

He reached into his backpack and took out a sacred spiritual fruit, which he stuffed into the cub’s mouth before putting it back into his contract book.

“F*ck! Why did you run so fast?”

Yang Zhou caught up to him and panted.

“It couldn’t be helped. Jade doesn’t wanna carry rough men.” He shrugged.

The other boy was speechless.

Was he not a rough man too?

“I am just more handsome than you!” Su Bai chuckled.

“Piss off.”

In the classroom, at breaktime.

“Su Bai, Ruoxue, which examination venue are you in?” Chen Tingting turned around to ask.

She was referring to the venue for the written examination of the professional Pet Tamer assessment.

“We’re both going to Cannes College, so you should be there, too,” replied Su Bai.

“That’s great; we can go together then,” said Chen Tingting with a smile.

“No problem.” Chen Ruoxue nodded.

“Hey, can you stop talking about this? We are so envious.” Yang Zhou chimed in.

“That’s right; I advise that you behave yourselves,” concurred Jiang Yang.

In fact, they were green with envy. The professional Pet Tamer assessment could only be taken with certain qualifications. The examinees must have warlord pets and silver contract books in order to be eligible. Yang Zhou and the others were surely not up to standard.

In fact, few in the entire school could meet this standard.

“Then there is no way; you guys can continue being envious.”

Su Bai shrugged and laughed.

“F*ck! Do you have to be so ruthless?” Yang Zhou was stunned.

Su Bai ignored him and picked up his book to read. The other was doing it on purpose.

In the blink of an eye, it was early in the morning of December 4.

Su Bai woke up early to ride Purple Jade to town.

When he walked to the gate of the manor, he found that his parents were already waiting there with bright smiles on their faces. “You can do it, son. We are sure that you can pass the exam.”

Stunned, he felt touched inside. “Thank you, mom, dad.”

He did not expect them to remember the day of his exam so clearly.

He rode out of the manor on the cub’s back, letting it take him to town.

“Howl!”

The cub took graceful catwalks forward with its head held up high.

When they reached the town, Chen Ruoxue waved at them from nearby.

Su Bai glanced over and marveled at how beautiful his girlfriend looked today. She was wearing a brown formal dress, black stockings, and English loafers. She was donning a short hair shawl as her skirt swayed gently with the cold breeze, making her look very attractive.

“Let’s go, Jade. Bring us to the exam room.”

Su Bai rode it and said.

“Howl!”

The cub glanced at the girls and nodded. Purple Jade would only let girls and its owner ride it.

“Sister Tingting, just sit behind me.”

Chen Ruoxue grinned and nodded before keeping her pets in her contract book.

She sat behind her boyfriend while Chen Tingting sat at the back.

Once they had settled down, the cub let out a happy howl and ran forth with green and white holy light under its feet.

Along the way, they attracted the attention of almost every passerby. It was not uncommon to see a cute pet like Purple Jade, but Su Bai riding alone with two cute girls made people envious. The most annoying thing was he was talking and laughing with those two girls.

At the entrance of Cannes Academy, they got down from the cub and walked inside. Chen Ruoxue turned to Su Bai and smiled. “How was it? Do you feel a sense of accomplishment for bringing two beautiful girls on the road?”

“Yes, of course. I am a mortal, after all, so it helped satisfy my vanity.” Su Bai chuckled. “Still, I only love you, so you can be at ease.”

Chen Ruoxue blushed deeply and looked around before saying quickly, “Lower your volume; I know…”

“Okay, okay. Please don’t show off your love in front of me anymore; I’m unable to stand it.

“The exam will start in half an hour; let’s get in as soon as possible,” said Chen Tingting helplessly.

“Haha! Let’s go in first. Boyfie, this is your stationery.” Chen Ruoxue laughed and handed a piece of stationery to her boyfriend.

“It even smells of flowers, it is great.”

Su Bai smiled and sniffed the stationery. He would always lose one of his pens or rulers every two days, so he relied entirely on his girlfriend for stationery. Even for this exam, he had only brought along one pen.

“Howl!”

Ah Bai, you can do it! I believe that you’ll obtain excellent results.

The cub gently nudged him and sent this gentle telepathic message.

“No worries, cutie.”

He chuckled and caressed it before keeping it inside his contract book.

Naturally, pets were not allowed in the examination room.

After checking their application forms and IDs, they were permitted inside.

Cannes Academy was an ordinary undergraduate school, where pet majors and non-pet majors each accounted for half. The construction on the campus was pretty good, but the teaching level and faculty were subpar.

This was Su Bai’s first time here, and he took a look at the campus while searching for the examination room.

“Su Bai, let’s go first. Remember to wait for us after the exam.”

Both girls found their examination rooms.

“Okay.”

He waved to them and headed into his room, which happened to be opposite Chen Ruoxue’s.

He went in and found his seat in the third row of the second group.

He sat down quietly and waited for the commencement of the examination.

The written test was similar to the college entrance examination, but it took a total of four hours. Out of 750 points, 500 points were necessary to pass and be eligible to participate in the practical assessment.

Generally speaking, it was still extremely difficult. Although a Pet Tamer had greatly improved in all aspects of pet backfeeding, the difficulty level was still high.

Of course, there were many ways to become a professional Pet Tamer, and this was not the only path. It was just the most orthodox and the most recognized by spirit universities.

It was usually easier to be admitted to top universities if one passed the professional Pet Tamer examination before the college entrance examination.

Since many people cheated in these examinations, the invigilators were far more stringent.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the exam. The invigilator began handing out test papers and patrolling the area.

Outside the school, many monarch pets kept surveying the area as they gave zero opportunity for examinees to cheat.

Any chances of cheating were completely eliminated as these pet skills were too weird to prepare any countermeasures.

Su Bai did not care about these and simply started answering the questions.

What is the core of a Pet Tamer?

A. Contract book

B. Pets

C. A brave heart

D. Face

Questions like this were free marks, and he directly chose ABC.

…

What is the difference between a Flower Fairy and a Queen of Thorns?

A. A Flower Fairy is flat-chested while a Queen of Thorns is voluptuous.

B. Characteristics

C. Evolutionary directions

D. Origin worlds

Su Bai chose ABCD without hesitation. Option A might seem nonsensical, but it was a test of humanity. As everyone knew, a Flower Fairy was famous for being cute, but it was indeed a symbol of being flat-chested.

Meanwhile, a Queen of Thorns was famous for its sexy and alluring figure, luring many fans over. Many geezers used this to describe the Queen of Thorns. It supported a world that they could not hold.

Of course, Su Bai did not choose the Queen of Thorns as his beginner material because of this; rather, he carefully considered everything.

He was soon done with the multiple-choice questions and began working on the fill-in-the-blanks portion and short-answer questions.

At this time, the invigilator suddenly collected the test paper of a student in the first row. “You do not have to take the exam anymore. Get out.”

“Why? I did not cheat.” The student was indignant.

“What is that in your ear? Do I have to take it out myself?” asked the teacher expressionlessly.

The student touched the fading bookworm in his ears, surprised that it had been discovered.

Su Bai ignored this episode and continued solving the questions.

The difficulty of the short-answer questions increased a lot for most people. Some questions gave monster symptoms and asked to determine the root cause, while others required answers on several pets’ general evolutionary directions, including potion configurations, pet egg incubations, humanities, and social sciences. Although this part of the test was not particularly esoteric, it involved a wide range of knowledge.

“Teacher, can I hand in the paper?”

He raised his hand after three and a half hours.

“Yes.” The invigilator nodded at him.

Su Bai packed up his stationery and left the examination room.

He had completed all the questions he knew and left blank those he did not. Usually, he would just hand in the paper after checking it once after he was done. He did not intend to copy anyone and found it meaningless. Having spent nearly two months preparing for the test, he was confident of passing it.

“Su Bai, over here!”

He heard someone calling him once he exited the examination room.

“Why are you guys here? You finished the exam so soon?”

He looked up to see Li Xing and Li Hai.

The Gemini twins were wearing the same pleated skirts and body-con shirts. Standing together, they gave people a full sense of shock and made people inexplicably think of bad things inside.
