At 4 p.m. inside a KFC at Deren Road, Zhongyun City, Yun Meng smacked her tiny lips as she bit on the last french fry, looking as if she couldn’t get enough of it. Wang Bing was sitting opposite her and looking boringly at the young girl, who seemed immature to him.

“Nice? I see the TV always showing some Orleans grilled wings or some others grilled wings. How about I order a set for you?” Wang Bing retrieved his gaze after he saw Yun Meng finish the meal in front of her.

“Um!” Yun Meng wiped her slightly greasy lips. She had also seen those advertisements before, but Chen Fan had never brought her to eat them.

After slightly making a fool of himself to get some Orleans grilled wings, Wang Bing stared at Yun Meng as he chewed on the chicken wings. “I’ve a question which I shouldn’t ask, but you’re already seventeen and should be able to understand. Your Brother Chen Fan is always outside flirting, aren’t you afraid?”

“How could that be?” Yun Meng raised her head. “Isn’t Brother Chen Fan always busy with work? He even went overseas for a business deal two days ago.”

“How could he be going for business? I know his company too well. There’s no need for him to go overseas.” Wang Bing made fun of the young lady out of extreme boredom. “Let me tell you, actually he went for a Hawaiian beach holiday with a pretty girl!”

Yun Meng looked at Wang Bing confused. “Why should I be worried even if Brother Chen Fan went on a holiday with a pretty girl?”

“Well…” Wang Bing scratched his head. He couldn’t be too blunt joking with a young lady, so swallowed back his “Aren’t you jealous?”

“Think about it, your Brother Chen Fan is young and rich. There are definitely lots of pretty girls clinging onto him.”

After a short silence, Yun Meng bit her lips and asked, “Brother Wang Bing, are there really pretty girls clinging onto Brother Chen Fan recently?”

“Yes, yes, there’s even a reinforced platoon. Don’t let him off when he’s back, you gotta teach him a lesson!” Wang Bing was out to stir trouble. He said this as he bit loudly on the chicken wing in his mouth, “Men have to be controlled, especially those young and rich like your Brother Chen Fan. Otherwise, there will be tons of young ladies making a scene at your door in the future.”

“Control men?” 

“Men are the pillars of a family. Only they should control women, how can women control men? Wouldn’t that be turning things upside down?” Yun Meng looked at Wang Bing as if she was looking at an alien from outer space. “Where I came from, there were always disobedient women who got chased and beaten by men with a rod, but there are never women who dared to talk back to their husbands, let alone raise their hands. They would definitely be divorced if that happens, and no one will dare to marry them again.”

“Eat…eat the wings!” Wang Bing also looked at Yun Meng as if she was an alien. As a promising young man of the 21st century who was used to seeing sassy girlfriends, fierce women and nags, what else could Wang Bing say?

Five minutes later, when Wang Bing was brooding inside over how to ask Yun Meng to introduce him to a girl from her hometown, Chen Fan called and asked him to come to the airport to pick him immediately.

“Let’s go, your Brother Chen Fan is back. Let’s go fetch him.” Wang Bing spat out the last chicken bone before standing up to carry Yun Meng’s bag.

“Hmph!” In the waiting area, Wu Ruoyu pulled a long face and gave a heavy snort before pulling her white suitcase out without looking at Chen Fan even once.

“Hmph!” Chen Fan sat right onto the chair, ignoring Wu Ruoyu’s threat as he crossed his legs. A man shouldn’t regret anything that he had already done, no matter how immoral it was. Since there was no cure for regret, the right thing to do was to face it bravely.

“Boss!” Not long after, Wang Bing was walking happily in front of Chen Fan.

“Why are you here?” Chen Fan was puzzled after he opened his eyes and saw Yun Meng also standing beside him. “Don’t you have class in the afternoon?”

“Today’s Sunday!” Yun Meng stuck out her tongue. “Brother Wang Bing brought me to KFC just now, so I followed him here.”

“Just call him Wang Bing, don’t add the word ‘Brother’!” Chen Fan stretched himself. 　　

After getting into the car, Chen Fan sat comfortably on the real leather seat as he looked at the familiar scenery outside the window, and an extremely comfortable feeling shot up his head. Although the United States and Road Town in the Virgin Islands were much more developed than Zhongyun, they were foreign land after all. It was inevitable to feel lonely in an unfamiliar place even if it was on a bustling street.

“Brother Chen Fan, is America fun?” Yun Meng asked.

After getting home, Chen Fan laid on the bed and smiled to himself before continuing his electric eel voyage.

Forty-nine hours later the electric eel was at Latitude 37.31.12 north, Longitude 131.28.50 east, in the waters between the Korean peninsula and Japan. It was 623 nautical miles away from Zhongyun, and the electric eel only needed five hours to get back.

However, even though it was now full of energy, the electric eel did not continue on but hid behind a huge reef as it stared at the waters on the left without moving at all. Twenty minutes ago, the electric eel, which was at over 200 meters underwater met with a huge submarine. Just as the eel curled under a huge rock to let the lawless submarine pass through, the submarine switched on its active sonar.

Boom! The 110-meter long, 10-meter wide and 10-meter tall black submarine was using its active sonar detector, which could be heard dozens of miles away to survey the surrounding waters once every two seconds. Behind this apparent Los Angeles-class submarine were another three black submarines which were much smaller in size.

“What’s going on?” Chen Fan was a little confused. Does the United States not have conventional submarines?

Inside the Los Angeles-class submarine, the 41-year-old Captain Bender was sitting leisurely right in the center of the control room, staring at the various data on the monitor.

“Captain, the active sonar detector did not discover any suspicious target nearby.”

“No, sir!”

“I guess those Korean and Chinese submarines dared not come over!” Bender turned his neck a few times and let out cracking sounds. 　　

As the world’s strongest navy, the feeling was simply fantastic! Openly switching on the active sonar was something other submarines could only do in their own territories, but they were able to do so whenever they felt like it at 99 percent of the locations worldwide.

Half an hour later, Bender received the report from the sonar detector that there was still nothing unusual being discovered.

“Launch the communications buoy, inform submarine ‘George Washington’ and those damn Koreans that our mission has been completed. We’re just waiting for the anti-submarine exercise ‘Indomitable Will’ to start.” Bender was furious at the thought of those shabby Korean submarines. It was simply a disgrace to the attack submarine exercise.
