Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Hasi, Hasi!

He came up with this money-making method after some investigation.

Trainers and pharmacists were similar and were both very popular auxiliary occupations related to pets. Likewise, there were egg appraisers who identified pet eggs, pet breeders who studied pet genetics, and so on.

A trainer was a profession that studied knowledge about pet evolution and variations. Some parts of it overlapped with a pharmacist. Since Su Bai could read pet information at will, if he paid attention to it, it would not be a problem for him to obtain a junior trainer qualification certificate.

With the certificate, he could earn a sum of money every month as long as he found an affiliated institution.

1

While thinking of this, he threw another stone.

Pat, pat… The spiritual power around Purple Jade burst forth rhythmically, and two vine whips as thick as thumbs rushed out quickly. They whipped the stone accurately, smashing it into pieces.

“Woohoo~(ノ>ω<)ノ”

 3

Purple Jade leaped very happily. It did it after only three hours of practice. It could not even hit a fixed target at the beginning; now, it was already capable of hitting flying targets.

“Hahaha, buddy, you’re amazing! With a little more practice, you’ll never miss.”

While complimenting his spirit, Su Bai poured the rest of the milk in the bottle in a bowl and added one-fifth of the wood spirit potion for the cub.

Purple Jade rushed over with small steps and quickly drank the milk.

It finished the milk in less than ten seconds, then raised its head, and stared at its owner with large, pitiful eyes.

Ψ( ̄∀ ̄)Ψ

It seemed to be begging for more.

Shaking his head, Su Bai caressed its little head and said, “No more. There’s more at home; I’ll let you drink enough when we get back.”

“Howl!”

The cub nodded vigorously in anticipation. (✪ω✪)

 11

“Okay, then. Let’s go home. Our practice ends today; let’s come out again tomorrow.”

He picked his spirit up, wiped its mouth clean, and put it on his shoulder.

Purple Jade stared at the small wood behind them as Su Bai brought it away. Perhaps it had been duped by its owner, but it now had the desire to keep training.

Once out of the small wood, Su Bai rode his small electric scooter home.

“Wow, brother, is that your spirit? It’s so cute! Was it just mutated? It looks completely different from the Thorns.”

Su Yue was very excited upon seeing Purple Jade on his older brother’s shoulder. This mutant spirit was just so cute.

Normally, even if there was a change in the spirit, it was mostly just a small one, but Purple Jade was a complete mutation, and even its life form had changed. The original Queen of Thorns was a plant monster, but it was obvious that his brother’s pet was a living flesh.

Upon hearing their younger son’s remark, Parents Su poked their heads out of the kitchen and came over to take a look at the little cutie on their older son’s shoulder.

Feeling shy at being stared at by three strangers, Purple Jade quickly pulled the hoodie from Su Bai’s coat over its head.

It was a pity that the hoodie was too small and could barely cover half of it, leaving its big, purple eyes exposed. In the end, the cub could only raise a small paw to cover its eyes and hide its ears.

4

Don’t look at me; please don’t look at me. (≧∀≦)ゞ

 5

“This is your spirit?” asked both adults at the same time. Their hearts melted at the soft and cute appearance of the cub.

“Yes, I named it Purple Jade. It’s a cute girl and has a pair of rare purple eyes.” Su Bai nodded. He then took his pet off his shoulder and introduced it to his parents and brother, asking it not to be afraid.

“Purple eyes are indeed a rare mutation. Come and give us a hug.” Mother Su smiled.

Purple Jade glanced at them. Seemingly still a bit frightened by the look in their eyes, the cub turned its head and dared not look at them.

Not long after, it suddenly smelled a particularly fragrant milky scent. Sniffing eagerly, it buried its head out of Su Bai’s arms and sniffed to find the source of the scent.

1

(╯▽╰) It smelled so good~

Mother Su carried a bowl of milk and walked toward it with a gentle expression. Su Bai placed his spirit on a seat and said, “Don’t worry; my mother won’t hurt you. She even prepared milk for you.”

 2

“Little Purple Jade, come over and drink this. This is the milk produced by a warlord spirit, the Flower-scented Cow!” tempted the middle-aged woman.

Under its owner’s encouragement and the delicious temptation of the milk, Purple Jade finally reached its head into the bowl and took a sip.

1

“Howl! Ψ( ̄∀ ̄)Ψ”

 1

It was so delicious that the cub let down all its guard. It lowered its head and smacked its mouth, its small face looking intoxicated.

3

Mother Su also took advantage of this moment to touch the spirit, and she quickly received its approval. When Purple Jade finished drinking the milk, it was already in her arms.

Su Bai reached out his hands and exchanged helpless glances with Su Yue. The milk of a warlord Flower-scented Cow was at least 1,000 yuan a bottle, was it not? The spiritual power contained in this milk was already comparable to a Tier 1 spirit crystal.

 1

It was over. Their family status had been reduced by one.

In fact, their family status had indeed been reduced by one. Su Bai could vividly feel that his mother treated his pet more affectionately than she did toward him when he was still a child. This was especially so after knowing that the wisteria in the yard had bloomed because of Purple Jade.

3

Could it be because his mother lacked a daughter? He realized that the cub was like her daughter—a daughter raised by a rich family at that.

2

After eating, Su Bai took back Purple Jade from his mother and returned to his room. He placed his spirit on the left side of his bed and slept on the right side himself.

After patting the cub to sleep, he turned on his mobile phone and surfed the Internet.

He opened the group chat and saw that people in it were showing off their pets. Yang Zhou was particularly active in showing off his hatched spirit. It was a conch, but its shell was not the deep blue shell of the Conch King. His little conch was still the beginner evolutionary type, with a white jade shell, and was a rare heterochromatic spirit.

Its shell was inlaid with crystals of various colors. It mostly had silver, followed by purple, blue, and red. There were two silver horns on the top of its shell, making the entire conch shell look very delicate and beautiful. With its good potential, Yang Zhou was in extremely high spirits and eager.

1

Su Bai continued scrolling through the messages with no intention of sending pictures of Purple Jade. His cub was so cute that he wanted to keep it to himself.

1

While he was playing with his phone, Purple Jade came out from under the quilt, climbed over, and looked at his phone curiously. “Woo?”

“This is a mobile phone; it’s a very interesting thing.” He introduced the gadget to it.

“Howl!” The cub reached out a paw to try it, wanting to play with the gadget as well.

“Okay, I’ll teach you how to play with it. Wait a moment for me to send a message first.”

6

Su Bai nodded and sent a private message to the very enthusiastic Yang Zhou. “Hey, have you done your homework?”

After sending the message, he taught his spirit how to play with his mobile phone. The cub was very intelligent and learned things quickly. That night, his mother taught it how to read characters and it learned a lot in a short time. Now, Su Bai only briefly explained the gadget’s functions, demonstrating a bit, and it fully understood how to use the device already.

11

The only difficult thing was that Purple Jade’s claws were quite big for the screen. A tablet was more suitable for it.

After the cub learned how to play on the phone, Su Bai downloaded ‘Piano Tiles’ for the both of them to play.

4

He had to admire his spirit’s godlike reaction speed. After adapting to the rules, he was not its opponent at all. Even after a while, Purple Jade broke through the limits of the arcade mode, keeping the score to a point where the second place was far behind. It stepped on thirty tiles per second, and the score reached more than 10,000 points, surpassing the ‘ultimately invincible’ second place with more than 9,000 points.

“Okay, okay, let’s stop playing. Go to bed; we’ll play later.”

 1

Seeing that it was late, Su Bai took the phone decisively, and Purple Jade could only cuddle against him and fall asleep.

After they fell asleep, a certain existence in another corner of the world opened the game with a broken mobile phone.

When it saw the refreshed record, it widened its eyes. “Hasi, hasi?”

2

It immediately became excited when it saw the ID ‘Raw Eater’ on the number-one spot. Did it finally have a decent opponent?

 3

It had been playing this game for a long time in order to motivate the people behind it. Every time, it would deliberately win by a few points to give them hope, but even so, the more they played, the more boring it became. These humans were simply too weak, and it was hard for them to break its record within half a month.

1

This surprise made it extremely excited, and it decided to give it the second place as a big surprise.
