The little boy wolfed down the food in a lively manner. He stuffed half of the biscuits into his mouth and chewed them with all his might.

His head was lowered the entire time.

However, he did not eat the other half. He also gulped down just half of the water from the bottle.

After that, he carefully held the remaining biscuits and water tightly in his hands.

He smiled gratefully at Li Ran.

“Sister, I’m hungry too. Do you still have anything to eat?”

Li Ran looked at another child who was walking over to her. For a moment, she had a troubled expression on her face.

There were so many people, the amount of food and water she had would not be enough. Moreover, the rescue team was coming. They just need to hold out till then.

Li Ran was about to apologetically deny the child when suddenly, she heard a voice coming from behind her.

Someone was shouting loudly, “There’s more in the car! I saw it! Under the passenger seat, there are several bags of biscuits! You better share it with me.”

‘What is the meaning of this?’

Li Ran was instantly upset.

Whether she wanted to share them or not was her choice. She had no rights to force her.

“Those are for me. I need to eat too.”

Li Ran spoke tactfully. That woman’s attitude had made her frown.

“We don’t even know when the rescue team will come. So many people here have starved to death! The rest are barely clinging to their lives. If you have something to eat, why don’t you share it with the rest of us?”

Li Ran looked at the middle-aged woman in front of her. She had tanned skin and a ruthless expression.

“It will be fine if each of us just ate a little. I’m starving. My stomach can’t take it anymore…”

“Sister, it’s alright. I can still persevere,” said the child.

“Look at your pale lips. You have not drunk even a mouthful of water today. Don’t take her words seriously,” Li Ran replied.

Their voices got louder and louder.

Li Ran was beginning to get a headache.

Who knew talking would be so stressful.

“If you want some food, you can just ask me. But, you’re forcing me to give it to you. It’s basically extortion and I refused to be extorted.”

She knew that she could give in to her demands. It was unreasonable.

“So you won’t share your food with me? Why do you have to say it so harshly? It’s your choice. Besides, the car keys are in your hands. You can say whatever you want.”

The middle-aged woman sneered and rolled her eyes at Li Ran.

“That’s not what I meant.”

Li Ran frowned and tried to sound calm.

She was beginning to sweat because more and more people were gathering around them.

There were at least twenty to thirty people.

Most of them were women and children, but there were still a number of men.

One of the men squeezed to the front of the crowd.

He glanced at Li Ran and sighed, “Miss, what are you arguing? We told you that there’s a rescue team coming. Didn’t we basically save your life? We are even willing to loan you our communication tool. Aren’t we doing you a favor? How could you repay kindness with animosity?”

“That’s not…”

Before Li Ran could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by someone.

Some people were getting closer and closer to her.

He rushed towards Li Ran and grabbed her wrist with all his strength, twisting it.
