Being in the mysterious space was a little boring.

There was no entertainment.

Li Ran had no company.

She walked outside.

The mysterious space was quite big. Her area already occupied about 10, 000 square feet.

The lake where she usually got her water from was not too far. It was within viewing distance.

After careful observation, Li Ran realized that there was a sign beside the lake.

‘Yo Yo Freshwater Lake’

‘What a ridiculous and childish name!’

Maybe it was to reignite the childlike innocence within her. Perhaps the child within her belly would like the lake’s name.

When she thought of this, she did not know whether to laugh or cry.

She did not want to wander any further.

The place looked barren and empty.

She returned to the wooden house.

Li Ran felt that she was about to collapse from exhaustion. She laid on the bed and instantly fell asleep.

When she woke up, the green peppers were ready to be harvested but the beans were not.

Li Ran collected the green peppers immediately.

The chickens and ducks that she had bought were about to reach adulthood.

They were one step closer to laying eggs!

Just like that, Li Ran completed her missions every day. She had spent two days and eight hours in the mysterious space.

The couple who had broken into her house should have left by now.

Li Ran thought about it and decided to go back to the real world.

Silence.

There was only the sound of the wind. It was five o’clock in the morning.

The windows and curtains had been opened. Since there was nothing much left, her house did not look very messy.

The computer and TV were gone.

Li Ran touched her pocket.

She could not find her phone…

Then, she remembered that she had left her phone on the couch.

The couch was gone.

‘Perfect.’

Li Ran thought sarcastically.

She tried searching the entire place but her phone could not be found.

It was dark so she decided to turn the lights on.

However, it did not work.

After trying several times, Li Ran was certain that the power in the entire building was out.

Before this, she would send a text message to her parents every day to let them know that she was safe.

But now, she lost her phone.

Her parents must be worried.

Li Ran thought to herself for a moment and went to the storeroom. Luckily, her car keys were still there.

Her door was still open.

She carefully walked outside.

There was an indescribable smell in her house. Since her door was left open for two days, the stench from outside lingered in. It was the disgusting smell of rotting corpses.

Fortunately, there seemed to be nothing that could jeopardize her. Li Ran observed the area and chose to use the stairs.

The power was out anyway and the elevator would not work. Even if it did, Li Ran dare not take it.

If she encountered any danger by taking the stairs, at least she would have some time to react.

Li Ran tried her best not to focus her eyes on the corpses lying on the ground. Severed arms and legs could be seen everywhere. There were no bodies with all their parts intact.

As she walked by, Li Ran could not help it and vomited.

After rinsing her mouth using an entire bottle of mineral water, Li Ran felt a little better. She sniffled and tears began rolling down from her eyes.

The area around the stairs did not have good ventilation, so the stench was unbearable.

Li Ran finally reached the parking lot. There was a dead body on her car, more specifically, at the hood.

Li Ran entered her car, took a deep breath, and stepped on the accelerator!

“Listen, that’s the sound of a car.”

The woman who knocked on Li Ran’s door a few days ago rushed to her balcony, but all she could see was the back of the car.

“That’s Li Ran’s car! Where is that woman going?!”

“Forget it, it could be someone else driving that car. Besides, even if it’s her, what can she do? She’s just a pregnant woman,” the man said impatiently and looked at his phone.

There was not much battery left.

He was trying to contact the rescue team but to no avail. There was no food left and he did not want to continue going out to scavenge for them.

The woman bit her lips. “Don’t you know that people eat one and another nowadays? There are dead people everywhere, and it’s not illegal to kill others. Li Ran was our best bet.”

The man was stunned.

“… That’s what you’re thinking?”

“What do you expect?”

“…”

The man turned off his phone and stood up with a serious expression.

He sighed and said, “I’d better go out and find some food. Wait for me here. I’ll bring back anything I can find.”
