Chapter 24: I Know Who You Are

Feng Jiu opened the door and ushered Xiao Mei inside. She wanted to go upstairs to check if MinFeng was at home or not, but Xiao Mei wouldn’t let her go and clung at her like a leach.

“Whaa~ your house looks good! Simple yet elegant.. Ah Jiu~ can I live here with you?”

“No!”

“Ehh~ Why?? I wanted to be with you~”

“Xiao Mei… Why are you here in Beijing?” Feng Jiu changed the topic to avoid Xiao Mei’s plea. Using her stoic face and indifferent attitude, she acted like a mother scolding her child.

Xiao Mei’s smile froze. “Daddy wanted to expand the company, so he wanted me to marry Johnson Holding’s heir, Robert Johnson. Bahh.. I don’t want to!!”

‘Is arranged marriage a trend nowadays??’ Feng Jiu could not help but inwardly ask herself.

“Sooo~” Xiao Mei continued, “I run away!! I don’t want to get married at someone I don’t love. Fortunately, the wait is over! The man in my dreams finally appeared!! Feng Jiu~ I want to marry him and bear his children, lots and lots of children.”

Feng Jiu covered her face with her hands. ‘What are you? A mother pig?!’

“So, that man you were groping was the man of your dreams?”

“Nonsense!! What groping? What assault?! I was just… I was just trying to ‘feel’ his body a little! What’s wrong with that??”

‘Everything is so f’cking wrong, I tell you!’ Feng Jiu could only sigh. Xiao Mei’s motto since they were children was: ‘No Shame, No Gain’. Xiao Mei always got what she wanted by hook or by crook. She was a hopeless romantic idiot who would view love like in fairytales, but Feng Jiu knew that Xiao Mei was not a bad person. ‘She’s shameless and unreasonable sometimes but she’s still the adorable Xiao Mei I love.’

“Ah Jiu, it’s been years since we last met. After your parents died, you never contacted us again. Even when I migrated abroad, you never even mailed me nor call me on the phone.”

Xiao Mei was hurt because the three of them treated each other as siblings but Feng Jiu suddenly disappeared in their life, making her and YanFei gege sad.

Feng Jiu closed her eyes to avoid tearing up. “I’m sorry…” That was all she could say. A million words behind a single ‘sorry’. It was her fault for closing her heart and closing her door. Making herself isolated not only to those who wanted to manipulate and use her but also those who truly cared for her.

Xiao Mei felt Feng Jiu’s sudden change of emotion. Thus, she wanted to talk other things and just bury the painful past. She suddenly remembered YanFei and their recent talk about coming back in Beijing for good.

“Ah!! Ah Jiu~ did you know, YanFei gege is now a renowned surgeon! He was busy last month because he wanted to work in Beijing for good.”

“Really? It’s been a while since I last saw YanFei gege.”

Xiao Mei giggled. “YanFei gege missed you.. Aiyaa~ Ah Jiu, wasn’t YanFei gege your first love?”

Feng Jiu almost wanted to smack Xiao Mei. ‘What crush? I was just admiring his personality and looks.’

Feng Jiu wanted to clarify her ‘feelings’ towards YanFei but before she could open her mouth, she saw MinFeng walking downstairs.

He walked towards them and kissed her on the cheeks as if he did not care that someone was sitting beside her.

“Love, you have returned?”

Xiao Mei’s eyes widened.

Feng Jiu’s eyes also widened.

‘What the hell?! LOVE?! LOVE?! urgh.. I’m having goosebumps all over! What the heck is wrong with this shameless bastard??’

Feng Jiu glared at MinFeng. ‘Why did he suddenly show himself??!’

Feng Jiu suddenly felt her heart jumped out of her rib cage when she saw Xiao Mei’s reaction.

Xiao was gaping like a fish out of the sea. Her eyes bulged and her mouth opens then closes seconds later. Xiao Mei returned to her senses after a moment of shock.

“A-Ah Jiu.. Who is he?”

Feng Jiu wanted to run and escape from this stupid situation. She didn’t know how to respond.

‘What would I say? MinFeng is my… Roommate? Sex buddy? Adopted man?’ Feng Jiu suddenly feels like someone was squeezing her heart. She subconsciously pressed her hand on her chest.

‘Again with this pain. I better go to the hospital to have an initial check-up.’ She calmed her heart and wanted to say they were friends but before she could say anything, MinFeng responded, “I’m his boyfriend. My name is MinFeng.”

Feng Jiu noticed Xiao Mei having a weird expression on her face.

“Ah Mei, do you know MinFeng?” Xiao Mei nodded her head fast then she suddenly paused, looked at MinFeng then shook her head.

‘Huh? Is there something wrong with her?’ Feng Jiu wanted to ask her, but she realized that she hadn’t offered any drinks to Xiao Mei.

“MinFeng, this is Xiao Mei, my friend. I’ll get some drinks. Entertain Xiao Mei first.”

She stood up and walk ed towards the kitchen.

Xiao Mei was thoroughly shocked.

‘Alike… Too much alike.. This bad big brother looked like my beloved MinDe~ Are they siblings?’

Xiao Mei looked at MinFeng.

He was staring daggers at her.

Xiao Mei wanted to cry.

‘What did I do?’ *sob*

Xiao Mei steeled her heart and whispered to MinFeng. “Bad gege[1]… I think I know who you are!”

MinFeng froze. He stared at Xiao Mei as if he wanted to bury her in an abandoned house and let her soul wonder endlessly forever.

Xiao Mei suddenly felt like she was frozen to death. ‘Waaaahh! Ah Jiu!! Bad gege is bullying me!’
