Fu Sichen was almost amused. He had liked Pei Zhen for so many years, of course he knew what his young boyfriend was thinking.

Now that he had caught on, Xiao Nian no longer cared to contemplate the extent of his own stupidity. Before he disappeared, he added annoyingly, “The press conference starts in thirty minutes.”

The two entwined men, who had been interrupted for longer than they could stand, glared icily at the retreating Xiao Nian.

Eventually, Pei Zhen had to leave for the press conference.

Fu Sichen petulantly followed Pei Zhen into the resting room and watched as Pei Zhen removed his makeup and changed. But whenever he tried to get anywhere with Pei Zhen, the latter would cruelly push him away.

“Do you have any assignments tomorrow?”

“Yes, and for the whole month as well,” Pei Zhen replied as he quickly changed into his suit.

“I’ve instructed Xiao Nian.” Fu Sichen looked annoyed. “He wasn’t to take on too many assignments. I’m going to have to change your manager.”

“Change to whom?” Pei Zhen chortled.

“That goes without saying,” Fu Sichen said, once again persisting in embracing Pei Zhen from behind, “Me. What do you think?”

Pei Zhen looked at Fu Sichen in the eye through their reflection in the full-length mirror and stopped mid-way through knotting his tie. “You?”

“Uh-huh.”

“And if you were my manager… you wouldn’t be taking on assignments of your own?”

“Of course I will.” Fu Sichen brought his lips right next to Pei Zhen’s ear, suggestively. “I’ll only take on those with you in it.”

His breath was warm, brushing against Pei Zhen’s ear and turning it red. Pei Zhen shuddered involuntarily. “For real?”

Fu Sichen was just 27, and even though they had come out of the closet, it was the peak of their career—they had a great future before them.

Being selective of assignments simply meant partial retirement. Would he want to do that?

Pei Zhen was surprised, but seeing that Fu Sichen nodded, he was quick to accept. “Sure, if you really want to retire, I can take care of you.”
