By the third day, the pain increased even more. Shangguan Ning couldn’t even get off the bed by herself. Her bones ached so much that it was killing her.

Mu Qing injected a large amount of nutritive solution into her and asked Lee Duo to bring the golden medical wine from Jing Yichen’s home.

But none of the painkillers worked on her. She was still in the breastfeeding period, and normal drugs could not be used.

Jing Yichen had been staying by her side. He felt both guilty and heartbroken when he saw her pale face.

Shangguan Ning consoled him whilst trying to suppress the pain. “I am fine. The pain is worth it. If I had to make the choice again, I would still have opted to go to you without hesitation.”

Jing Yichen’s eyes turned red. He brought Shangguan Ning’s hands to his lips and kissed them with great force. He said in a low voice, “I know, I know it all. Bite me if you are suffering, it may help you relieve some pain.”

He said as he placed his arms over Shangguan Ning’s lips, offering her to bite it.

Shangguan Ning was unwilling to bite him. His wounds were still healing and he had stopped resting, just to take care of her. She was concerned about him and would not cause any more pain. If she really took a bite of his arm, she would probably rip it off because of the pain’s intensity.

She shook her head, forcing a weak smile and said, “No, I am fine. Grandpa Mu said that after today, all will be fine. I can pull through, trust me.”

Jing Yichen understood that she did not want to hurt him. He found Shangguan Ning to be silly.

How much did she love him that she did not want to hurt him even a little bit?

He lowered his head to kiss Shangguan Ning.

Maybe that was a way to distract her so she wouldn’t suffer too much pain.

That was indeed a practical method for Shangguan Ning.

Jing Yichen’s kiss was gentle and lingering, full of concern and love, making Shangguan Ning feel happy.

It was not until she started panting did Jing Yichen let go of her.

Jing Yichen chuckled at the sight of Shangguan Ning’s bashfulness. His sweet girl still flushed very easily.

Shangguan Ning felt assured and safe with Jing Yichen next to her. She asked Jing Yichen about the time every now and then, trying to see how much time was left before the torture ended for her.

The stinging pain started to reduce at around 10 that night and Shangguan Ning let out a sigh of relief. It had been two days and two nights since she started feeling so much pain. She finally fell asleep at around one p.m.

But she slept fitfully because the pain kept coming and going. She woke up every now and then.

It was not until noon when the pain reduced tremendously and she fell asleep with Jing Yichen’s arms around her.

When she woke up again, she found that she was lying on her bed at home.

There was no one around and Shangguan Ning sat up slowly on the bed. That pain had reduced largely but it had not disappeared completely. She was too feeble to do anything that required strength and was tired simply after she tried to sit up.

She let out a bitter smile, feeling that she had become a very weak and spoilt patient.

She sat on the bed for a while and was ready to go to the bathroom when she heard Jing Yichen’s gentle voice.

“Come on son, let’s drink some milk. It may not taste as good as your mom’s milk, yet it is full of nutrients. Also, I can tell that they taste almost the same, though your mother’s milk tastes better. Try it.”

Shangguan Ning chuckled while sitting on the bed. She felt a bit embarrassed.

She had not fed Jing Rui during these two days and her breasts had swelled up, making her uncomfortable.

She asked Jing Yichen to buy her a milk pump but he had turned down the idea. He had said calmly, “Why are you ignoring the milk pump that is available at home?”

So, Jing Yichen had consumed all of Jing Rui’s food for the past few days.

She had thought that the milk would cause some side effects, but Jing Yichen was totally fine. He even said that he was doing the poison test for their son.

The poison did not work on him, but he did look like someone who would want to take his son’s food.

Shangguan Ning touched her breasts subconsciously and found that they were not swollen anymore. She understood that Jing Yichen had taken advantage of her again when she was fast asleep.

She put on the slippers, and walked towards the living room slowly where she found Jing Yichen holding Jing Rui in his arms. He was testing the temperature of the milk on the back of his hand and then started feeding Jing Rui in the correct posture.

Jing Rui was not particular about his meal. He drank the milk while his large eyes were staring at his father. He was probably wondering why his father was feeding him today.

Seeing him enjoying the food, Jing Yichen smiled and said in a low voice, “You little boy, you eat everything. You are the most obedient boy I have ever met, just like your father!”

Shangguan Ning burst out laughing when she found him speak so highly of himself.

Hearing the laugh, Jing Yichen looked up and turned towards her. He saw his wife standing there with a pale face. She looked much better than yesterday with a smiling face.

“What are you doing off the bed?”

Jing Yichen said as he put down the bottle and walked towards her with Jing Rui in his arms.

Jing Rui was in the middle of food when the bottle was suddenly gone. He started to seek the bottle, uttering a protesting sound.

As he turned around and saw the woman who fed him every day, he reached out for her, uttering an even louder sound.

Shangguan Ning understood that Jing Rui was asking her for milk. The little fellow was very smart and always passionate when it came to his hunger pangs. He was always trying to find a method to draw his mother’s attention.

Jing Rui held her clothes tightly, looking at her, as if asking her to hold him. That made Shangguan Ning both amused and concerned.
