Xi Xiaye did not hear Mu Lingshi’s reply. When she glanced over and noticed Mu Lingshi shaking, she sat up and studied her.

“Ah Shi…” Xi Xiaye called out to her.

“I’m fine, Sis-in-law. I just feel exhausted holding on. Mu Yuchen turned around when he heard some noises, and she sat down beside him.

“Are you done with work already? It’s time to sleep now. Why did you make tea?” Xi Xiaye picked up a grape from the fruit platter on the table and fed him as she asked.

He ate it without hesitation. “Mmm, I took a nap in the office this afternoon, so I’m not that sleepy yet. Stay with me for a while.” He put his arm over her shoulders. “Is Lingshi asleep?”

“She just fell asleep. You look like you have something on your mind. Is it about Ah Mo or the company?” Xi Xiaye could easily tell through his eyes that something was wrong though he looked calm as usual on the surface.

He smiled and grabbed the cup of tea. “Want to try some?”

Xi Xiaye shook her head, unable to stand the bitter taste. Her gaze continued to lock onto him. “You’re always like this when you’re in a bad mood, Mr. Mu!”

“Your observation skills are improving.” He drank the bitter tea without even batting an eyelid. “I got news from Su Chen. It’s highly possible that Gu Lingsha was behind the fire at Zitong’s store, but Doris sent Gu Lingsha abroad several days ago.”

“Gu Lingsha? Why her?” Xi Xiaye gave Mu Yuchen a surprised glance. “Could it be due to her arrest and lockup in the police station before?”

Mu Yuchen nodded. “That’s the only thing she would hold a grudge against Su Chen about, so they were dragged into the mess.” He sounded helpless. He never thought about dragging Su Chen and Zimo into this mess, but it still happened inevitably.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll understand.” Xi Xiaye understood how he felt as it was similar to how she felt when Su Nan and Ruan Heng got into a conflict with Gu Lingsha.

She put her hand on the top of his and gripped his fingers. “You guys are best friends.”

Mu Yuchen smiled and grabbed her hand in return. “Don’t worry. I know. It’s not my intention for the scale of the matter to grow this big too.”

“It’s during times like these we feel our insignificance. It’s time to get used to it!” She smiled.

“Lecturing me now, aren’t you?” His smile grew wider.

“This isn’t a lecture. I’m trying to teach you a lesson. Well, I’m just going to sit here and have a drink with you anyway.” Xi Xiaye got up and went to the liquor cabinet. She came back with a bottle of wine and two glasses moments later.

“Do you have a new hobby now?” As he accepted her invitation to drink, he poured two glasses full of wine and handed one to her.

Xi Xiaye clinked glasses with him and they both took a sip. “That depends on the drinking partner.”

“It’s my pleasure!” Mu Yuchen smiled and raised his glass at her.

“Why did Gu Lingsha go to the UK so suddenly? Is it because of Zitong’s incident? She seems to have changed ever since she got locked up in the police station. I heard things weren’t looking good between Qi Feng and her. Even Qi Qiming had to talk to him regarding this matter.” Xi Xiaye was suspicious. “Could there have been some kind of conflict between them? I heard that Doris never liked Qi Feng. By the way, Mr. Mu, I also heard that the senses in Qi Feng’s legs have returned.”

Mu Yuchen paused for a moment, he then took a deep breath before emptying his glass. “As expected.” Despite his cold grin, Xi Xiaye also sensed some moodiness from within his eyes. It seemed like things were happening according to his predictions.

“That’s all they have, I guess.” Xi Xiaye shrugged and acted slightly cheeky.

Mu Yuchen chuckled when he noticed her response. “I’m afraid you won’t be this happy if you find out what caused their conflict.”

“What do you mean?” Xi Xiaye asked.

“Gu Lingsha seems to think that there’s something between you and Qi Feng.” He smiled at her, obviously trying to tease her.
