Chapter 1452: Judgment From the Skies

“Sounds like a bike,” Water Fairy commented as she heard the sound of vehicles from Lu Li’s perspective.

“Yeah. On the left. It seems fast.”

Lu Li had also heard the sound. Although this was his first time, he had adjusted quite quickly. He just needed to understand the game mechanics.

“Don’t get hit by it. You’ll die,” Water Fairy softly reminded. Clearly, she had been hit by one before.

Lu Li scanned his surroundings, then hid behind a hill. He was in a crawling position, so he wouldn’t be discovered by people.

The motorcycle flew past Lu Li’s position. Because the terrain wasn’t suitable for driving, the driver had to slow down. The motorcycle was the fastest vehicle in Survival and Escape, so it was extremely easy to crash while driving it. However, experienced riders would know to slow down.

Even after the rider had slowed the motorcycle, the bike still ended up flying after driving off a hill.

This type of air-time wouldn’t be dangerous, since you could keep going after you landed. However, from a spectator’s point of view, it was very entertaining to watch. Many motorcyclists loved doing this.

Suddenly, someone appeared from the side of the hill, aimed at the rider and fired.

Pa! Pa! Pa! Blood suddenly filled the air.

The two players didn’t know how many shots had landed on them, When they both landed on the ground, it was like they had just committed suicide together.

“Not good! Run!”

“Ah, I haven’t looted the ammo. I had a look around before. There’s no one around here. This place is also hilly, so if I crouch, I’ll be safe,” Lu Li explained as he reached for two boxes of ammo.

“From the sky…” Water Fairy murmured.

There wasn’t enough time to explain. Countless bullets rained upon Lu Li’s area. The only colour he saw was red, then it was game over.

Kills: 6. 25th Place!

“Hahaha! The camper was killed!”

“Judgment from the skies!”

“666~”

“233~”

“Judgment from the skies! About time!”

The live-stream chat erupted while Lu Li was still trying to figure out what happened.

“A small red circle will appear on the mini-map, which represents the zone that the airstrike will take place. You were in that red circle. You needed to run away from that zone or hide inside a building to avoid it,” Water Fairy explained while consoling Lu Li. “You were pretty good! 6 kills in your first game!”

“I don’t know much. Give me half an hour and let me go through the details.”

Rarely did Lu Li find himself unprepared in a battle. He originally just planned to accompany Water Fairy, but he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Water Fairy loved playing this game. This was out of the norm for female players. After all, these were violent, gun-shooting, car-racing games. Naturally, this game would attract more male players than female players.

“My partner wants to look through tactics. I’ll join the lobby with him in a bit, but I’ll sing for everyone while he does that.”

Water Fairy couldn’t dance or make small talk, but she had a nice voice. It was quite soothing.

“We don’t want singing! We want news!”

“Please tell us something about your boyfriend!”

“My goddess! Why did you go behind my back and date another guy?”

“There’s not much to say. He’s a professional gamer,” Water Fairy said, slowly caving to their demands. She shouldn’t have asked Lu Li to come and play with her. The only reason she did that was because she felt that they hadn’t spent much time together.

“Aren’t you guys only an online couple? Unless it’s for real?”

“Well, as for the future, I don’t know. But, as for now, I’ll be more serious about this relationship.”

Other female players or streamers might have ignored messages like that. However, Water Fairy was always quite independent, so she quickly admitted her feelings.

Lu Li didn’t see or hear this, since he was focused on the tactics.

As a specialist in matters like these, Lu Li knew how to efficiently analyse different tactics in a short period of time. In the short half an hour, he had already read at least ten chapters, from basic tactics to advanced tactics. Although he had just skimmed through, he would be able to use these tactics when he was met with these situations in the game.

After half an hour, the couple entered the game lobby again.

In the preparation phase, there were many different guns scattered across the ground. Lu Li took a shotgun, loaded it with bullets and fired at some of the people running and jumping.

This was the easiest way to practice.

Water Fairy was just jumping, practising melee combat. She usually didn’t have luck on her side and couldn’t loot a gun after landing. This was because other people would land first and take all the guns away. After all, fists wouldn’t win against guns.

After one minute, they appeared on the plane again.

“This time, make sure to jump the same time I jump,” Water Fairy said. She reckoned that if they stuck together last round, they probably would have made it to the top 10, since Lu Li was quite good at reading the situation.

“Let’s go to the bigger cities, since there are more people. We can practice shooting that way,” Lu Li suggested.

“But if we land and don’t find guns, we’ll be in trouble. You know that my luck is pretty bad,” Water Fairy disagreed. She was feeling rather afraid.

“That’s okay. We can just restart anyway. I promise you that we’ll see ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ within a week,” Lu Li assured. He was quite confident in his skills.

“Alright then. Three…two…one…jump!”

They were directly above City G, which contained houses, a hospital and shipping containers. Water Fairy looked around and examined where everybody was going. Then, they chose to land among the containers, which were all yellow or blue. There were loot boxes inside and above the containers.

Both of them landed inside the container area, but since Lu Li still wasn’t great at controlling his landing, they still ended up with a bit of distance between them.

“Be careful. There are two squads here.”

Water Fairy didn’t dare to jump on top of the containers to grab the loot boxes. Since she didn’t have a gun, she could only go in hiding.

“I got an 8x scope!!!” Lu Li exclaimed in excitement.

This type of feeling for him was quite rare nowadays. Lu Li didn’t even get this excited when his set items dropped in Instance Dungeons. After a short half an hour, he knew what having the 8x scope meant.

In this game, the scope was extremely important. There was the 1x scope, 2x scope, 4x scope and 8x scope. As for the legendary 15x scope, it seemed like it was only obtainable from the air support loot boxes. This meant that the 8x scope was the best option besides the 15x scope.

Of course, this didn’t mean that the 8x scope was the best item. It still depended on the player’s skill with the scope.

“That’s good, but find a gun quickly. I saw someone head towards your direction.”

Water Fairy picked up a submachine gun, but since there were other people around her as well, she didn’t dare to make a beeline straight for Lu li.

“I already heard someone above me jump away,” Lu Li said, breathing a sigh of relief.

This game depended on luck. If you didn’t have a gun, then it would be difficult to progress. Lu Li could only hide in the container and not move, because the person that was above him hadn’t travelled far enough.

In this container, there was not only the 8x scope, but there was also the Quickdraw Mag for rifles and other accessories. If he doesn’t have a rifle, then these would all be useless. There was also a pan, which was said to be Grade 4 protective gear. It was even stronger than the highest-grade bulletproof vests. This was because bulletproof vests, no matter the quality, would still allow the wearer’s HP to drop after taking bullets. However, when bullets strike the pan, it wouldn’t do damage to the wearer.

“Can the pan be used to deal damage?” Lu Li asked.

“Yeah. The damage is actually pretty high too. However, if other people have guns, then the pan wouldn’t stand a chance.” Water Fairy replied.

“That’s okay. There’ll be an opportunity, unless he doesn’t want the 8x scope.” Lu Li took out the 8x scope and threw it on the ground. Then, he took the pan and hid in the corner of the container.
