Chapter 141: Lin Ye’s Visit

In the afternoon, Mo Yan had just sent away the police who had come to question her when an unexpected person greeted her.

“Lin Ye? Why are you here?”

Mo Yan looked at the youth’s slightly pale face in surprise. She did not remember telling Lin Ye that she was hospitalized.

Lin Ye looked Mo Yan up and down, and after confirming that she was fine, he said, “I’m here to see you.”

“To see me?” Mo Yan raised her eyebrows slightly. “How did you know that I was hospitalized?”

However, just as she finished asking, she thought of Lin Ye’s identity. She pursed her lips and did not say anything more.

“Apart from coming to visit you, there’s something else I need to tell you.”

“Yes,” Mo Yan replied and waited for him to continue.

“This is another project of the Lin family. You can take a look.” As he spoke, Lin Ye handed over a document.

Mo Yan did not accept it. She only looked at him quietly. After a long while, she said, “Is this compensation? Or is it a bargaining chip for a private settlement?”

“No.” The young man’s tone was calm.

“Although the Lin family is protecting Lin Peng now, when the time is right, they will hand him over to you. You can do whatever you want with him.”

“What do you mean?” Mo Yan asked with a frown.

Did he mean that even if she had the evidence, she could not do anything to Lin Peng? Then why did she take such a big risk?

“Miss Mo, you can consider this project.” Lin Ye didn’t explain to Mo Yan, but handed over the document again.

Mo Yan looked into his calm eyes, an unknown flame rose from the bottom of her heart. “Since the Lin family has the ability to suppress the matter, why did you come to me with this thing? Is this a peace offering? Do you want me to forget that he schemed against me? Or do you want to seal my mouth?”

Mo Yan’s stern questioning caused Lin Ye to frown slightly. He did not mean what Mo Yan thought, it was just that he was not good with words.

It was true that the Lin family would protect Lin Peng for the time being due to some reasons, but they knew what Lin Peng had done with the Lin family’s influence all these years. They would stop protecting him after he turned twenty.

“You’re overthinking it. I’ve only looked at your plan and thought that your plan was very good, so I’m giving this to you,” Lin Ye lowered his eyes and explained.

“Ha! Not compensation? What a weird time to give me this.” Mo Yan had a mocking expression on her face. Every time she thought of Lin Ye’s words, she felt like a clown. The so-called evidence that she risked her life to get was a pile of trash.

He really was from a wealthy family in Jing City. Even the police investigation could be interfered with. Lin Peng was a rotten person, and the Lin family wasn’t any better!

Facing Mo Yan’s anger, Lin Ye was even more at a loss for words.

It was indeed as Mo Yan had said. His father had only agreed to let him give the project to Mo Yan today because of what Lin Peng did. However, this was also an opportunity.

This project was an internal tender of Lin Group. Those who could participate were all companies that had cooperated with Lin Group before. If the project is successful, it would be of great help to Mo Yan’s work.

“It’s not compensation.” After a pause, the youth continued, “Since you’re in a bad mood, I’ll come and see you another day.” After saying that, he stood up and left.

Mo Yan didn’t know if she was mistaken, but she felt that the youth seemed to be a little disappointed.

The youth had just when he bumped into Luo Tao. The two of them glanced at each other and then brushed past each other.

After returning to the ward, Luo Tao noticed the documents on Mo Yan’s bedside table, and his eyes darkened.

“What’s wrong?” Luo Tao asked as he placed the things he bought on the side.

Mo Yan’s gaze was also fixed on the documents. She did not say anything and no one knew what she was thinking about.

Luo Tao placed his large hand on Mo Yan’s forehead and asked, “Are you not feeling well?”

Mo Yan seemed to have just recovered from the familiar warmth and forced a smile. “You’re back.”

“Mm.” Luo Tao passed the lemonade to her, but Mo Yan only held it in her hand.

“Did someone come here?”

Luo Tao’s voice seemed to be a fuse, instantly igniting the bitterness in Mo Yan’s heart. She couldn’t figure out why she had done everything?

Hugging Luo Tao’s waist, Mo Yan buried her face in his arms and asked in a muffled voice, “If I can’t get them punished, then is everything I’ve done worth it?”

At this moment, Mo Yan was a little lost, as if the faith in her heart had instantly collapsed.

And Luo Tao didn’t know how to comfort Mo Yan. He could only say that Mo Yan had done the best she could.

Luo Tao’s heart ached as he stroked her back. Actually, when he met Lin Ye in the corridor, he knew what had happened, but he couldn’t do anything.

“Just let it go like this? It’s really unfair.”

Hearing Mo Yan’s slight sobbing tone, Luo Tao’s heart ached even more. He gently kissed Mo Yan on the top of her head. “I won’t let it go like this. I will make Lin Peng pay the price.”

Luo Tao’s voice was incomparably cold, causing one’s scalp to go numb.
