Chapter 130: Last Time

“In the afternoon, the leader of Lin Group gave you his business card and asked you to meet him privately.”

Xu Tian’s words instantly enlightened Mo Yan and she understood Xu Tian’s concerns.

“Sister Xu, do you really think I’m that kind of person?” Mo Yan asked with a frown. She did not expect sister Xu to suspect her like this.

Xu Tian did not say anything. She wanted to trust Mo Yan. However, the betrayal that she had experienced before made her have trust issues. She did not want to win the project by cheating. She also did not want Mo Yan to do immoral things just to get what she wanted.

Mo Yan said sternly, “Sister Xu, I’m just going to meet someone I know tonight, not the leader of Lin Group. Of course I won’t do such a stupid thing.”

“I’ll go with you.”

Xu Tian’s request was a little unreasonable, but she could not take any chances.

“I’m sorry, sister Xu. This is my personal matter. I can’t let you go with me.”

From what Mo Lian said, it seemed like what she wanted to tell her was private, so she couldn’t let a third person hear it.

After being rejected, Xu Tian looked at Mo Yan for a while without saying anything. She turned around and left.

Mo Yan felt a little uncomfortable. Whether it was her mother’s matter or Xu Tian’s suspicions, they both made her feel as if a huge weight was pressing down on her heart. It felt like something bad was about to happen.

…

After leaving the Lin Group building, Mo Yan headed straight for the Grand Court that Mo Lian had mentioned. The sky gradually became gloomy. It was about to start raining.

Sitting in the taxi, Mo Yan looked at the hurried pedestrians. She suddenly recollected about her childhood. At that time, she had a perfect family, an amiable father, a kind mother, and a cute younger brother. She lived a happy life.

However, everything changed when her father brought Chang Lu home two years ago.

Her father drove them out of the villa, leaving only a fifty-square-meter old house for the three of them to live in.

At that time, she and her younger brother were still studying, so their mother had to work hard to support them.

Living that way was already difficult, but God was still not merciful. Her mother’s health deteriorated, and Mo Yan had to work to earn her living expenses, her mother’s hospital fees, and her brother’s tuition fees.

Raindrops fell on the car window.

Mo Yan thought about everything that had changed since then. She no longer called Mo Dong her father, and she had also forgotten those happy times. No matter how happy she was in the past, everything that had happened since then smeared whatever happy memories she had left.

Her phone vibrated. It was a text message from Luo Tao.

[Are you back at the hotel?]

Luo Tao told her at noon that he would be staying at his friend’s place in Jing City for the next two days.

Mo Yan was quite shock to hear that Luo Tao had a friend in Jing city. Luo Tao said that they were good friends who grew up together before his whole family moved to Jing City.

He said that when he came to Jing City, his friend specifically invited him, so he couldn’t refuse. Mo Yan expressed her understanding, and also understood how Luo Tao was able to give her recommendations of where to visit in Jing City.

Mo Yan thought for a moment, but she still didn’t want to lie to Luo Tao, so she replied: [Not yet, I’m meeting an acquaintance.]

After Mo Yan sent the message, Luo Tao also received the location where Mo Yan’s taxi stopped.

The reason why Luo Tao asked Qin Yuan to help him take care of Mo Yan when he was abroad was because he was very busy overseas and could not pay attention to Mo Yan’s every move in Jing City. By asking Qin Yuan to help him take care Mo Yan, he could get Qin Yuan to contact him if anything happened to Mo Yan.

However, what Luo Tao didn’t expect was that the Lin family would stop Qin Yuan’s men from following Mo Yan. As a result, Qin Yuan and Luo Tao didn’t even know that Mo Yan had been kidnapped.

Grand Court Hotel? Luo Tao thought for a while before confirming that this hotel was owned by the Huo family.

“Get the car. I’m going to Grand Court Hotel.”

Just as his men opened the door for Luo Tao, he saw Qin Yuan and Du Jing outside.

“Huo Zhen, where are you going? I have something to tell you,” Qin Yuan said first.

Du Jing looked at Luo Tao and felt that there was something different about Luo Tao today.

Luo Tao frowned slightly and said to the two of them, “I’m going out for a while. Tell me when I get back.”

“Wait! It’s about your third uncle. Don’t you want to know?”

Luo Tao glanced at the two of them and said indifferently, “Follow me.”

After getting into the car, Qin Yuan spoke again with a somewhat serious expression, “Your third uncle is on the move again. What are you going to do?”
