Chapter 735: Father Isn’t Clear-Headed Right Now, Don’t Take It to Heart and Argue With Him

The both of them conversed until 10 p.m. Mrs. Lu was worried Zi Yi might be too tired and said, “I got the helpers to change the bed sheets and take out the quilt covers to wash and dry them under the sun. Have a good night’s sleep tonight; it’s New Year’s Eve tomorrow. I’ll take you shopping and we’ll visit your Grandfather and family after that.”

Zi Yi certainly would not have a different opinion on this.

Mrs. Lu looked at Zi Yi and her heart was filled with joy. “In the future, you should stay with us. It’s more lively with everyone together and you can wait until school reopens before you move back.”

Zi Yi nodded her head.

When she returned to her bedroom, there was a warm feeling.

Lu Jingye had yet to return. After Zi Yi took a shower, she left her hair to air dry and turned on the virtual screen to place some orders. Following that, she opened the virtual mailbox, which had been left unchecked for several days.

Only then did she find out that her mailbox had almost hit the limit with all the offers she received from different laboratories. Zi Yi took a glance and deleted them. She already had plans for next year and she could not possibly accept all these offers.

She turned on her phone and changed the personal status from [Do not disturb while traveling] to its normal status.

Originally, she wanted to go to bed after changing the status. However, before she could even put down her phone, she received a continuous stream of messages.

Zi Yi lay on the bed and checked the messages.

There were messages from her professors, the First Hospital, and also the Painting and Calligraphy Association…

Zi Yi grabbed her phone and continued to scroll down. A somewhat unfamiliar name sent her a message.

This person was Situ Feng, who Zi Yi had promised to treat his Grandfather.

Situ Feng’s message was rather polite: [Miss Zi, I wonder when are you available? Can you come over and help my Grandfather do another check-up?]

Zi Yi had prescribed medicine for Situ Hong previously and also explained to Situ Feng how to care for his Grandfather. In fact, they had not kept in contact after that, but since he sent her a message, Zi Yi sent him a reply.

[I’ll come over the day after tomorrow.]

The moment Zi Yi sent the message, the other party replied to her almost instantly.

Situ Feng: [Alright, thank you, Miss Zi.]

Zi Yi did not reply to him subsequently.

…

On the other side.

When He Fei returned home, he realized that the atmosphere at home had entirely changed.

There were no longer the sounds of laughter like in the past and everyone had a cold expression on their faces.

The moment Second Madam He saw He Fei, tears streamed down her face. She walked towards him in large strides and gave him a slap.

PA!

He Fei turned his head back and noticed that his mother was crying even harder. He raised his hands wanting to touch her face that seemed to have aged considerably after he left.

“Unfilial son, what did you even come back for?”

Second Madam He slapped his hand away and cried hysterically. “Do you know your father is dead? Do you know our He Family is going to fall into ruin?”

“Mother,” He Fei called out to her with his horse voice. He felt that his throat was blocked and for a moment, he did not know what to say.

Second Madam He hit him with her fists and said, “You unfilial son, why didn’t you come back earlier? What were you doing outside alone? If you didn’t leave, your Father wouldn’t have been murdered by your Uncle. You…”

“Mother, who murdered Father?!” He Fei felt an explosion happening in his head and his body shook uncontrollably.

“Who could it be? Who else could it be!” Second Madam He said while sobbing.

He Fei felt his heart getting slashed by countless knives. He hugged Second Madam He and tears had also started to stream down his face.

He would never have expected that the real culprit of his father’s death was his First Uncle.

“Why did First Uncle do that?”

The feeling of his heart ache was merely too much.

Second Madam He was crying too hard and could not answer him at all.

Later, He Fei was brought to his father’s tablet and he stayed there kneeling for a long time.

Second Madam He said, “You didn’t return even when your Father died. Do you know what people outside were saying about you? Also… you are the only one in the second house who can lead us in the future. If you continue acting idly, we will be done for.”

Second Madam started crying again and she went out. Even though she loved her son dearly, if she did not let him continue kneeling, she would feel even worse deep down inside.

He Fei knelt in front of his Father’s tablet. A strong surge of pain overwhelmed him and tears flowed out of his eyes uncontrollably.

“Father, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have left.

“Your son is useless, and has never been able to make you proud. Even during your funeral, I didn’t even manage to rush back and send you off.

“Father, you can rest assured. I won’t be wilful anymore in the future. I will manage the business in the way you would have and I won’t let the second house be bullied by others.”

…

While He Fei was engulfed in pain after knowing the truth, Father Lu and his two sons remained in the study room to talk until morning. Only then did Lu Jianlin say, “You can go back and rest. It’s going to be the New Year soon and you can leave everything else aside. You should rest when it’s time to rest.”

Speaking of this, he looked at Lu Yunxiao. “I won’t assign you any missions these next few days. Accompany your Mother while you’re at home. She has been worried about you all these years and you should make her happy during the New Year at the very least.”

Lu Yunxiao nodded his head.

Thus, the three of them left the study room together and returned to their respective bedrooms.

By the time Lu Jianlin returned to his room, Mrs. Lu was still waiting for him.

“Lingluo, why aren’t you asleep yet?”

Mrs. Lu sat on the bed with an album in her hand. She was wearing a pair of spectacles and only looked up after hearing Lu Jianlin call out to her. “I’m very happy today and couldn’t fall asleep.”

She then waved to Lu Jianlin. “Jianlin, come over here.”

Lu Jianlin went over and sat on the edge of the bed. Mrs. Lu showed him the photo album. “Look, the last time we had a family photo was dozens of years ago. Ever since our two sons grew up, we don’t even have a photo together. Now that we have Yiyi, we must take more photos during the New Year’s.”

Lu Jianlin looked at the photos and nodded. “Sure. We’ll take as many photos as you like.”

Mrs. Lu happily said, “We should take more when the family gets together. We have Yiyi this year and it’ll definitely be lively.”

“Yes.”

“Even though I believe I’m an open Mother, I still want to let Yunxiao attend blind dates for the following period of time. Perhaps he might meet someone he likes?”

“We can hold a banquet then.”

“That’s a good idea. Our family hasn’t held a banquet for a long time and with Yiyi around, it must be held.”

Speaking of this, Mrs. Lu suddenly thought of the people in the main residence, and the smile on her face disappeared. “Father’s temper is going from bad to worse now.”

Lu Jianlin knew what she was going to say and patted the back of her hand. “Father isn’t clear-headed right now, don’t take it to heart and argue with him.”

“I won’t argue with him as long as he doesn’t make things difficult for Yiyi.”

“Alright. Old Hu has been treating Father during this period of time. With him around, Father would not make things difficult for her.”

Old Hu’s temper was not good either. When he learned of how Patriarch Lu treated Zi Yi, he did not make Patriarch Lu suffer any less. The others also knew of it, it was just that they did not bring it up at the table.
