She immediately understood. “We can lay on it when we sleep.”

“En.” He nodded. “Sleeping on the ground was too cold and hard last night. With this, it’ll be a little more comfortable.”

Due to their intimate posture last night, they were still covered in sweat till now.

She was deeply moved by his thoughtfulness.

This man was always trying to make her life a little happier.

Bai Qinghao moved the firepit to the side to reveal the warm ground beneath it. He then laid the dried grass on top of it to form a makeshift bed.

He had wanted to place his shirt on top of the grass to keep it from pricking them.

However, his shirt was previously used to contain the sea crabs and was now both dirty and smelly. It could not be used until they washed it.

Fang Xinxin laid down on the dried grass. The ground was still warm from the fire.

Although the dried grass was a little prickly and itchy, compared to last night’s freezing conditions, it was much more comfortable.

The temperature on this island contrasted significantly between day and night. In the day, it was hot enough to kill someone while at night, it was freezing cold.

It was almost like they were living in a desert.

The fire was shifted one meter away from them and it continued burning.

Fang Xinxin was exhausted from the day and was extremely drowsy. “Hubby, you should sleep too. Don’t forget to save the fire.”

This way, they wouldn’t have to rely on rubbing pieces of wood together when they wanted to start another fire.

She wanted to ask if he knew how to when he responded. “Alright.”

His answer indicated that he did. She finally fell into a deep sleep.

Bai Qinghao dug a small hole next to the fire pit. He smashed some of the firewood that had turned white from burning into smaller pieces and pushed them into the hole.

He covered it with a layer of ash. This way, the fire tinder was saved.

In order to stay warm, he kept the fire going.

After completing all of this, Bai Qinghao eventually went to Fang Xinxin’s side. His injuries had yet to fully recover and the entire day of hard work had also left him exhausted.

He eventually fell asleep.

Both of them were too exhausted to do anything but sleep on this night.

Later in the night, the fire quietly died. The two of them were once again cold and had to embrace each other to stay warm.

With the remaining warmth from the fire, it wasn’t as uncomfortable as the previous night.

Early in the morning, Bai Qinghao woke up.

He lifted his wrist to check the time. It was 5:00 in the morning.

He had slept for around seven hours. As he was used to sleeping very little, this was more than enough for him.

He looked at Fang Xinxin, who was still in deep sleep in his arms. Her features were stunning. Although her skin had gotten darker, it remained as soft and clear as ever.

His heart was filled with love for her.

He wanted to watch her forever. However, he needed to leave to collect morning dew.

Otherwise, they would die of thirst without any drinking water.

He moved quietly as he carried the first aid kit and headed towards a humid area near the sea. He relied on the surgical knife and his watch to collect water the same way he did yesterday.

Five hundred grams of water was really insufficient for one day.

Bai Qinghao carried the three empty bottles to collect morning dew.

The three bottles were especially small. Two of them could only take in one hundred grams of water each, while the larger bottle which had earlier contained rubbing alcohol could hold three hundred grams of water. In all, it would only be sufficient for another five hundred grams of water..
