“Ah! Ge Ge, there are fireworks outside! I thought our landlord doesn’t allow for fireworks? Who’s setting them off? It’s so pretty. They’re just like the ones in the countdown earlier; how pretty…”

Pound, pound!

Pei Ge’s heart pounded wildly as she watched the exploding fireworks. Her ears automatically filtered out her mother’s voice.

In that moment, all her thoughts were centered on that one phrase…

‘Pei Ge, look outside.’

Immediately, she hurried toward the balcony in the living room.

Shwaaa!

She opened the door and headed outside.

It had started snowing outside, and the snowflakes turned the world silver and white, making it look rather romantic.

Especially when paired with the colorful fireworks, in that moment, she thought that the world outside her window seemed like a fairy tale.

Just as she was gazing at this fairy-tale like nightscape, she heard his cold, deep voice in her ear again.

“Pei Ge, do you like it?”

A simple question made her heart flutter wildly again, and a pink blush appeared on her cheeks.

She came back to her senses from the fireworks-lit night sky and looked downstairs.

On the snow-covered road, she spotted Ji Ziming.

“Pei Ge, Happy New Year.”

Listening to his gentle voice and looking at the man standing in the snow, she covered her mouth. Tears welled up in her eyes.

Ji Ziming… It really is that annoying fellow.

Even though she did think that he might show up, she did not expect for him to do so in a way that did not match his image at all.

She thought… that last time was his limit.

“This child, look at the fireworks if you want, but why do you have to open the windows? The heater is still on…”

Zhang Manhua grumbled when her daughter spaced out after opening the balcony window.

Before she could finish speaking, as if something had set her daughter off, she saw her race to the door without a word.

“Eh? Ge Ge, where are you going?! Ge Ge, hey! Add more layers…”

She called out to her daughter who was opening the anti-theft door.

Alas, as if not hearing anything, Pei Ge ran outside…

” Haa… haa… haa… ”

At one go, she ran from the fourth to the first floor, and because of how fast she went, she was panting heavily by the time she reached the ground level.

It was already below zero outside. She was only in her casual clothes, yet she did not feel cold.

She raised her head to look at the man standing at the entrance of her block.

Looking at man in a trendy trench coat, her eyes shone.

The dark grey suit was simple yet elegant, and the light gray knitted scarf added a gentle touch to him.

Paired with a flawless face, he looked like a god emerging from the snow… It made her swoon and her heart flutter.

This seemingly god-like CEO, however, knitted his brows tightly when he saw her.

She came to her senses when she saw him frown.

“Why are you here?” Her eyes widened fast.

The man walked slowly toward her without responding.

“You… What are you doing?” She looked confusedly at the approaching man.

He walked up to her side, looked at her with a frown, and took off his windbreaker.

“Put this on.”

As he spoke, he put his windbreaker on her.

“I’m not feeling cold; you…” His cold gaze silenced her.

When his coat was on her, she felt warmed to her core, and she inhaled his body’s unique scent.

Instinctively, she took in a deep breath.

Who knew that he would not be contented with just giving her his coat? Immediately after, she felt warmth surround her neck.

She looked up at him in a daze and saw him wrapping a scarf around her neck with a serious face.

Seeing how gentle he was, she paused.

All she could hear, besides his breathing, was her heartbeat.

His hands were rather gentle, as if he were dealing with a precious object. He carefully wrapped the scarf around her neck.

When he lifted his head, he saw her staring at him with a dazed look.

Looking at her eyes, which reflected nothing but him, his lips upturned into a smile.

He lifted his palm and put it on her head, patting her like he would a small animal.

She only returned to her senses from the scene before her eyes after that.

“You! What are you doing?” She widened her eyes and blinked at him. “Don’t pat me on the head…”

His smile widened at her strong reaction.

He suddenly understood why she liked to tease him because… he liked that feeling, too.

“Okay.” He looked at her with a smile.

“You, why did you come here all of sudden…” For some reason, she became a little shy when she saw the smile on his face, and her face turned slightly pink.

“I missed you, so I came.”
