“Sister Pei Ge, wh-what are you saying? Do you mean to say that the child in that woman’s womb isn’t my dad’s?”

Qin Qitong was shocked. Even if she disliked her stepmom, she had never doubted the latter’s love for her dad, nor did she think that her stepmom would cheat on her dad.

After all, in her eyes, her dad was the best man in the world. It was that woman’s fortune and glory to be married by him.

However, from Pei Ge’s words, it seemed that that woman had cheated on her dad!

She was pregnant with someone else’s child, too!

“Qitong, calm down first. I wasn’t sure at first, but I thought that it’s a little weird.”

Pei Ge started explaining things to the agitated girl.

“Think about it; given that woman’s personality, would she give up the hard-to-come-by child should the father be your dad? Would she do that?”

The girl shook her head slowly, mentally picking out the weird things.

“Even if for pretense, just to look like a considerate mother and wife, it’s a blessing to bring it up a child once. Why would she bring it up time and again? Most importantly, why would she let herself roll down the stairs of her free will to induce a miscarriage?

“If it’s just to set you up, she would be losing, instead.”

Listening to her explanation, Qin Qitong began to calm down. Doubt gathered in her mind.

“I was just suspicious yesterday, but I am a hundred-percent sure now. That child in that woman’s stomach isn’t your father’s,” Pei Ge said with confidence.

She was still unsure if she had the wrong idea yesterday, but after what had happened earlier today, she knew that her suspicions were sound.

“That bad woman! My dad is so great, yet she still dares to cheat on him!” She gnashed her teeth in anger. Raising her hands, she wiped the tears off her cheeks. “No! It’s not the time to cry. I need to get there now and expose that woman!”

Pei Ge felt at ease when she saw that the girl had calmed down.

The girl’s hysterical and desperate look earlier made her feel worried.

She was afraid that, in a moment of folly, the lass would commit suicide to prove her innocence.

Now, seeing her reenergized, albeit in a fit of pique, she felt relieved.

“Sure, sure, sure. If you wish to expose her, we’ll go together, but…” She smiled at her.

“But what?” The girl looked nervously at her. “Sister Pei Ge, you’re not gonna stop me from going right?”

“Of course not,” she smilingly teased, “but you should probably wash up. Look at your tear-stained face. Go clean it; I don’t wanna put you against that woman while looking so miserable.”

“Mhm!”

Qin Qitong nodded, a smile appearing on her haggard face.

Once the girl went to the bathroom, Pei Ge took out her phone and dialed another number.

This time round, it was not as tough to get through, but Pei Ge still had to wait a while.

“Bi Zheng, I don’t care what you think. In this matter, Qitong has always been the victim. Everything’s an elaborate scheme. I’m not asking you to pick sides; I just want you look at things objectively. After all, the one she cares the most is you.”

She did not wait for the young man to respond and just hung up the phone.

Still, she did not feel satisfied with just that and sent a text to him as well.

In it, she briefly explained how Qin Qitong’s stepmom had set her up.

By the time she was done, Qin Qitong was also done cleaning herself up.

“Sister Pei Ge, let’s go there now!”

The girl hurriedly pulled her outside.

She smiled and shook her head when she saw how anxious the girl was.

Sigh… Why is this girl so innocent? Even if we go there now, there’s no point really.

Without evidence, her father and brother won’t believe this innocent girl, despite her being their closest kin.

Under the shocked gazes of the Qin family servants, the two ladies got in a car and left the villa.

Under the girl’s urging, the car traveled extremely fast.

Soon, it pulled up at the door to a private hospital.

Pei Ge froze when she saw the hospital.

The reason for it was that this hospital was the one Ji Ziming had brought her before to see the gynecologist.

Back then, the two of them had a false alarm here…

Her cheeks went aflame when she recalled that.

She settled down almost immediately, though.

Originally, she thought sorting out everything might be difficult for that annoying fellow despite his affluence and authority.

After all, given the complex structure of the hospital, it was quite tough getting certain things done without connections.

But since it was this hospital, where he surely knew someone, she was sure that he could easily get things done.

Once she paid the fare, she dragged to the girl to her stepmom’s ward.

Ge Qing was staying in a VIP ward.

By now, after surgery, she looked wan and feeble.

She put herself in her husband’s arms. Her eyes, which were filled with tears, drew sympathy to those looking.

At least, that was what she looked to her husband.

That was the scene Pei Ge and Qin Qitong saw when they opened the door.

Extremely agitated by this, she rushed into ward without thinking.

“Dad, that woman’s child isn’t yours! She lied to us! She’s a terrible woman!”
