After sending the man off, she, who was experiencing an internal conflict over her slip of the tongue earlier, finally heaved a sigh of relief.

His gentle announcement of his return at night was, thus, ignored by her.

Bang!

Slamming the door shut, her blank face broke into a wide smile.

“Ha ha ha!”

She laughed aloud.

The cat in her embrace was startled by her outburst and its sea blue eyes stared at her innocently.

“Meow!”

“Pudding, I’m the only one in the house now!” She lowered her head and kissed the top of its furry head.

Ha ha! I’m the only one at home now!

She was excited at the thought.

Placing the cat on the floor, she began to explore the house.

She could not explore it this morning as the man was still around. With the man gone and her being alone, she was, of course, happy that she could explore the house all she wanted.

“This is where I used to play with my building blocks!”

“I broke a cup here once.”

“Ah! I think I was spanked by mom here before.”

…

Her face reflected reminiscence as she explored the house she used to live in the past.

She went around the house from the first floor to the second floor, and it was only when every corner and room was combed through that she stopped her exploration.

As she was very active earlier, she was feeling slightly weary by the time she returned to her bedroom.

“How nice it is to be back!”

She laid down on the spacious and comfortable bed, and when she looked up, she saw a map of stars on the ceiling.

Wow!

A blissful smile spread across her face. At night, the ‘stars’ would shine brightly!

‘My princess, what do you want for your birthday this year?’

‘I want…’

‘Mhm? My princess, what do you want?’

‘Will you give me whatever I want, Daddy?’

‘Of course, whatever my precious daughter wants, I will fulfil it!’

‘I want… stars for my birthday, then! Brightly lit stars!’

‘Ge Ge, you’re bullying your father again! Don’t be so mischievous!’

‘How am I bullying my father? Mom, you are being fierce with me again!’

‘Yes, yes. My princess didn’t bully me! It’s just stars!’

‘Yi? Daddy, you’re really giving me stars?!’

‘Yes, of course. I’m our princess’s incredible dad, after all!’

‘Ha ha, I knew it. Daddy is really the best!’

…

“Dad…” Her eyes watered as she gazed up at the stars.

A thought, which she had never dared to entertain before, also came to her mind.

If… Auntie Ji really became her mother-in-law, that would truly be perfect!

She would actually do so much for her when she was just her son’s fake girlfriend. How great would it be if she was truly her mother-in-law?

The poor man was again neglected by her when all of these were clearly done by him!

“Achoo!” The man was reading some documents in the office when he sneezed loudly.

“CEO Ji, are you all right?” His assistant expressed his concern for him as he entered the office with a cup of coffee.

“Mhm.” He lightly hummed to indicate that he was fine.

Placing the documents down, he reached for the coffee his assistant had brought him.

His forehead moved slightly after he took a sip of it.

How bitter…

His assistant, who was very good at reading his boss’s expressions, began to have questions.

“CEO Ji, is there something wrong with the coffee?” He did not mix anything else in it and had brewed it according to the man’s preference.

“No.” He felt a slight confusion as he placed the cup of coffee down on the table.

It was probably because he had drunk that coffee brewed by that woman earlier today.

Although he repeatedly instructed her not to add any sugar or milk, that woman still added some when he was not looking.

He must have been affected by that woman’s coffee!

“CEO Ji, I wonder if Miss Pei is satisfied with the house?” He cautiously probed once he judged that his superior was in a rather good mood.

Although the restoration of the house was done by him, his boss still involved himself with it even though he could have let go of all controls.

“Hmm…” The man frowned and thought seriously. That dumb woman seems to be satisfied.

“Then, did Miss Pei see the ceiling of stars that you drew for her?” his assistant questioned further.

This was the main question!

When he saw a particular CEO, on a ladder, tracing the star markings on that house’s ceiling using special tools, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets!

He was really shocked!

“…” The man’s brow arched at his questions and eyed him. “Are you very free now?”

“Ah! No, no, no! I’m very busy! I’ll head out to work now!” He hurried out of his office.

Upon his assistant’s departure, his eyes, though his face remained expressionless, glinted with much anticipation.

Has the dumb woman seen it? Will she see it?

Poor CEO Ji did not expect that, not only had she seen it, she was also brought to tears by it in her immense happiness!

Unfortunately, her gratitude was not for him as the credit was once more given to his mother.

If the man’s assistant, who had taken part in that house’s restoration, learned of this, he would probably say one thing: ‘The evils we bring upon ourselves are the hardest to bear!’

His boss clearly cared a lot for Miss Pei and restored that house to match her memory, but he refused to admit having done it for her.

Now, she believed his claim without question!

Ze, ze, ze!

His superior’s love life was destined to be an arduous one!
