The pack of cigarettes was something a servant had just gone out to purchase.

Puffing out smoke, Fu Huai’an put out the remaining half of the cigarette and beckoned Lin Nuan…

Fu Huai’an didn’t use much force. He dried Lin Nuan’s long, wet hair gently, looking toward her while waiting for her reply.

A sharp sense struck Lin Nuan’s heart, and her body tensed up as well. She grabbed Fu Huai’an’s firm and strong wrist, stopping his action of drying her hair. “Did something happen?”

Fu Huai’an paused, his throat rolling a little as he put the towel on the desk and said, “Yun Liuli will be here tomorrow. Some of the people who were originally protecting you will have to be sent to protect Yun Liuli. I don’t feel assured with fewer people protecting you!”

Time passed by very quickly. Lin Nuan yawned a few times, and she saw that Fu Huai’an didn’t seem to be planning on resting at all.

Lin Nuan’s eyelids felt heavy. She closed the book and put it aside. Since she was afraid that she’d disturb Fu Huai’an’s work, she didn’t say anything to him. She just switched off the bedside lamp and laid down gently.
