Lin Meirong didn’t know what to do then. Looking at Li Xiuying’s smug face, she felt like she’d been physically slapped with this woman. It hurts to know that she was still below her, that she cannot ever compete with her. 

Why? Lin Meirong couldn’t understand. Why was Li Xiuying smiling right now? Why couldn’t she beat this woman? 

Li Xiuying should have died in that accident and never survived! But somehow, she managed to survive, ruining her plans. She should have been living in riches by now and not being persecuted by the public as a succubus who ruined someone’s life. 

She couldn’t believe people thought that Li Xiuying was really gentle and innocent, with the way she was being demeaned by her. With this meeting, Lin Meirong was hoping Li Xiuying would willingly end her marriage with Mu Jianyu so he would come back to her.

“But he proposed to me! He intends to marry me! Don’t you have any dignity left in you to keep him to yourself, when you know that he’s already mine?” 

This was something Li Chuntao didn’t know. Her twin sister had only mentioned Mu Jianyu’s intention to marry his mistress after their divorce and never knew that he already proposed to this tramp. 

She scoffed inwardly. Was he really that stupid to consider this tramp to marry? He didn’t even know which hell hole this woman came from. Hell, if he knew that she was basically another man’s wife, Li Chuntao wondered what his reaction would be. 

Anyway, that wasn’t her problem. This cheating couple won’t be able to continue fooling themselves as it would only add to their regrets later.

“He wants to marry you?” Li Chuntao chuckled with sarcasm. It was as if Lin Meirong had just told her the biggest joke of the year. “Am I supposed to laugh at that? Do you want me to throw a party for the two of you? Or are you the only one who’s thinking he would really marry you? Did he even give you a ring?” She then took a quick glance at Lin Meirong’s hands. 

Lin Meirong immediately tried to hide her hands beneath the table but it was already too late as Li Chuntao had already seen the absence of a ring. 

“See? No rings. Don’t tell me he promised you that in the throes of passion,” 

When Lin Meirong said nothing, it made Li Chuntao burst into a round of laughter. Her eyes got teary as she continued to laugh at this woman’s foolishness. 

Li Chuntao didn’t need to say more as the other woman’s face blanched in understanding. Time seemed to slow as she looked at the witch’s smug face taunting her.

Indeed, how could Lin Meirong forget that she was still married to her estranged husband? However, she and Yao Qigang had no idea where her family went. They seemed to have vanished. 

Lin Meirong feared that her husband would have found out about her affairs because of the news. She needed to find him soon before he could start a problem in her life. What could she do to attain her freedom from Meng Huan? 

She detested every passing day knowing that she had married someone like him. Maybe she should have cut all relations she had with the Meng family before leaving for the capital. 

“Still, you can’t change the fact that this child is his. Lady Li, please don’t blame me. It’s not my fault that you couldn’t bear him a child.” Lin Meirong snapped back. She couldn’t let this woman have the last words in this confrontation. “Jianyu is just staying with you out of pity. If he knows you’ve been lying all this time, he will leave you!” 

“Well, go ahead and tell him about it. Do you think I care?” Li Chuntao snorted, which was very unladylike. “Yes, I agree. You let him know about it and I’ll make sure he will also find out about each of your lies, Gu Changge. I’m also getting tired of this charade actually.” Li Chuntao was fully prepared for this. She already predicted that this would happen sooner or later, and she would make sure she had an upper hand against the two. 

Lin Meirong’s face darkened as she tried to contain the rage she had in her heart. Li Xiuying’s presence was enough to annoy her to death. She caught Li Xiuying’s eyes looking at her swollen belly.

“However, how sure are you that Jianyu is the father of your child, when everyone already knows about your affairs with other men? Who hasn’t heard about your sickening ‘activities’? 

“As for Mu Jianyu, do you think he would leave me? I hate to break this to you, Gu Changge, but my husband wouldn’t leave me for someone like you. He remembered now how much he loves me before meeting you. He will beg for forgiveness and will start anew with me. And you? You’ll just be a thing in our past. Someone who we’d rather forget. You can go and tell him, Gu Changge. No one’s stopping you. Now if you’ll excuse me. You’ve already wasted thirty minutes of my life. I need to go home soon cause you know,” Li Chuntao winked at her, slightly leaning forward to whisper into her. “My husband is waiting for me. We have plans tonight.” 

After bidding her goodbye, Li Chuntao happily left the coffee shop, deeply aware of how Lin Meirong was glaring daggers behind her back. She couldn’t wait for the two to get into an argument again.

If she was in Lin Meirong’s position, she would act like she was being bullied and helpless to get Mu Jianyu’s favor but because Lin Meirong was shameless enough, she wouldn’t even notice that Li Chuntao had played her well today. 

Since Lin Meirong was brave enough to confess her affair with Mu Jianyu, let’s see if she would be able to make him believe her. Would Mu Jianyu believe his mistress who’d been constantly lying to him or would he believe his innocent wife? 

Li Chuntao decided not to go back to Mu Jianyu’s place yet. She will allow Lin Meirong to try to sow discord between her and Mu Jianyu. She still couldn’t believe that Lin Meirong pursued a career in acting when she was bad at it.
