Nian Junting was stunned and his eyes lit up. “Any conditions?”

Luosang felt chills down her back. She regretted her words instantly. She should have given him something else.

“Alright, you can’t go back on your word now. I’m going to think hard about what to ask of you.” Nian Junting kept the note and his expression was bright.

After dinner, Sister Lan came back to clear the table.

Nian Junting took Luosang upstairs and pulled her onto the sofa, they were watching the television together. The television was huge and he picked an anti-Japanese occupation series.

“I highly recommend this war drama, it’s one of the classics and it’s very realistic.”

Luosang was about to break down. She didn’t want to watch a war show. Why could other couples spend their birthdays having a romantic time but they had to watch a wartime drama.

Luosang was dozing off as they continued watching the show. Halfway through, Xiao Si called Nian Junting to ask him about something at work then afterwards, he suddenly added, “How come there is the sound of cannons and machine guns, what are you two doing?”

“Yeah, I’m watching a World War II show,” Nian Junting said casually.

Xiao Si thought he had heard wrongly.

“What, are you ok? It’s your birthday today and you’re not spending time with Luosang but you’re watching a war drama?”

“I’m watching it with Luosang.”

It was so unfair that someone like Junting could find such a sweet and pretty girlfriend like Luosang but he was still single.

“You should treasure Luosang, a normal person wouldn’t be able to tolerate you.” Xiao Si hung up after that.

Nian Junting put down his phone and turned to peck Luosang on her cheek. “How am I unbearable? Xiao Si is just jealous, what’s wrong with the show? Isn’t the show exciting?”

He pulled Luosang closer to his chest and continued to watch the show.

Luosang barely managed to stay awake for half an hour before she felt groggy again. She said, “I’m sleepy, I’m going to shower first, you go ahead and watch your show.”

“I won’t watch it anymore too; it’s too boring to watch by myself. Let’s continue tomorrow,” Nian Junting shut off the television.

Luosang was about to cry. She didn’t want to watch the show again the next day, she was bearing through it since it was his birthday today.

After showering, Nian Junting was lying on the back with his hands behind his head. He looked like he was in serious thought.

Luosang lay down next to him and asked, “What are you thinking about?”

“I’m thinking about what I should ask from you,” Nian Junting answered seriously.

“Keep thinking then.” Luosang began to pull the blanket over herself.

Suddenly, Nian Junting scooted close to her ear and whispered something.

Luosang’s cheeks flushed pink and she stared at him in disbelief before covering her face with the blanket. “No, I could never do that.”

“You said any request.” Nian Junting peeled the blanket out from her grasp so she had nowhere to hide.

Luosang pursed her lips in silence.

“So you were planning to patronize me with a lie.” Nian Junting folded his arms. “I thought you were going to do something special for me for my 30th birthday.”

Luosang felt bad. She had thought about other gift ideas but they were too ordinary. If her body allowed, she would have taken up Yan Su’s suggestion, she wanted him to have an unforgettable birthday. Too bad she was pregnant now.

“It’s alright if you don’t want to, I know you don’t love me enough.” Nian Junting turned his back against her, leaving her to stare at his sad silhouette.

He curled up into a ball and he looked extremely depressed. Luosang felt guilty.

It was his 30th birthday after all and he was excited for her gift.

After hesitating for a minute, she wrapped her arms around his waist and said, “Alright, I’ll do it.”

Nian Junting turned around in a second and his eyes were twinkling as if he had just won the lottery. “Shall we begin now?”

Luosang covered her blushing face with the blanket and said, “Well… I said I would do it, but not today. I watched the movie and had a meal with you and I’m really tired. The baby won’t be able to handle it either.”

“When will you do it then?” Nian Junting didn’t want to force her to do anything she didn’t want to, but his eyes reflected his disappointment.

“Um… when my pregnancy is more stable.” Luosang stuck out her tongue, she was going to drag it out for as long as possible.

“Alright, but I want some welfare tonight,” Nian Junting said, crawling swiftly beneath the blanket.

Luosang was clutching the blanket and although the air-conditioning was on in this sweltering heat, her face was still turning red. Nian Junting stopped kissing her and said excitedly, “Really?”

He attached a photo of a gift box in the post.

Murong Cheng commented, “Son, what happened to your cool and aloof image, you’re so disgusting now.”

Xiao Si found him disgusting too.

Ever since Nian Junting started dating, his dashboard had become more and more mushy.

He added to Nian Xi’s comment, “Same here.”

Then he replied to Ji Nuanyi, “If you like, I could buy it for you too.”

Ji Nuanyu replied quickly, “Ok.”
