“I’m glad you know.” Nian Junting looked down at her, his chest heaving because of anger. “This time, I will not concede to you like I used to. If you never see or talk to him again, I may forgive you.”

“He is my friend.” Luosang raised her head and responded in a trembling voice, “I can’t do that.”

“He is a friend that you spent New Year’s Eve with. Am I not even as good as your friend? You have already pushed me to my limit.” Luosang’s attitude drove Nian Junting so mad that he almost lost his mind. He couldn’t help but yell, “I’m offering you one last chance to make a choice. Never talk to him again, or break up with me.”

Luosang trembled. She had thought about a lot these past few days, including breaking up. However, she hadn’t dared to think too deeply about breaking up. Now, hearing him saying those words, she felt that her heart was suddenly icy cold. She had given him herself, yet he mentioned breaking up so easily.

He never trusted her.

As she stayed silent, Nian Junting grabbed her arm and shook it angrily. “Give me an answer!”

“I can’t do what you ask…” said Luosang in a sad voice.

“You didn’t hesitate.” Nian Junting’s eyes dimmed. Anger surged in his chest and even threatened to burn him up. He let go of her and said through clenched teeth, “This time, I will not compromise. My tolerance of you is limited.” After saying that, he turned, put on his shoes, picked up his shirt, and stormed out of the room.

Luosang felt so tired, she didn’t follow him. She stayed in a daze for a while, then slowly walked into the room. Seeing his clothes on the bed, she was stunned. The winter in Shanghai was so cold, but he ran out in only a shirt.

She hurriedly picked up his clothes and went out to chase him. In the lobby, she saw him preparing to get into a taxi.

“Nian Junting…” she called his name.

Nian Junting paused, quickly turning around. Watching her run up to him and gasp for air, he raised his chin slightly and said, “What? Do you regret it? Have you realized that you were wrong? Are you sure that you won’t see or talk to him again?”

Luosang took a deep breath, then handed him the clothes and said in a hollow voice, “I’m just… bringing you your clothes.

Taking the clothes, Nian Junting burst out in laughter with the fire of anger burning in his eyes. “Xu Luosang, do you think that I have to be with you? You’re wrong. Plenty of women like me. I can replace you any time I want to.” Finished talking, he got into the taxi and slammed the door.

The taxi drove away as Luosang stood by the entrance of the hotel like a statue. Had she and Nian Junting broken up just like that? She could scarcely believe it. They hadn’t broken up because of his sexual dysfunction but because of Chi Shengxu.

She had given him her entire self, yet he said something like that to her. Replace her any time he wanted? Was that because he didn’t love her enough? He wasn’t with her because of love, but because his body only responded to her. Was that why he had broken up with her so easily?

She froze in the strong, cold wind. Only when the hotel staff by the entrance reminded her how cold it was outside did she stiffly go upstairs back to her room. The things which Nian Junting had used were scattered all over the room. His scent was everywhere.

Luosang sat on the bed with her arms around her knees. She felt exhausted and awfully bitter. Once, she thought that she was the happiest woman in the world. Once, she thought that her homeless days had ended, as she had finally found a harbor. Once, she thought that she possessed Nian Junting’s exclusive love, but now, she wasn’t sure anymore.
