Xing Yiyue felt like she was being tortured by her own husband. She had already lost track of when she had last seen him. It was as if he couldn’t be bothered with her anymore, and the mere fact that she had tricked him was enough to look at her with disgust. 

Not only did she lose her popularity in the show business after her months of absence, but Luo Qingqing had also finally surpassed her and had been named the new film empress from the last acting award. 

She even had no idea how her older brother was faring these days, as Feng Tianhua refused to allow her to leave their home to see her sibling. She was trapped but unable to resist her husband as everything she worked so far had slipped from her grasp. She could not convince him to listen to her as she already completely lost her favor. 

Xing Yiyue’s whole body trembled as she forced herself to get up from the bed. She held onto the bed post for support as she tried to find where she put her mobile phone. There was no way in hell she would allow Feng Tianhua to abandon her once she gave birth. 

She needed to formulate a backup plan to save herself because there was no doubt that Feng Tianhua would force her to sign divorce papers once he had their baby into his hands. She doubted that he would give her the rights to raise their child, considering how angry he was with her. 

The once bright star of this generation burst into hysterical laughter as she realized how pathetic looking she was as she saw her reflection on the mirror. From the peerless beauty that nobody could deny, Xing Yiyue’s deathly pale complexion and huge baby bump made her look miserable and pitiful at the same time. 

To think that she had now lost everything while Tang Moyu regained what she had lost seven years ago— Xing Yiyue couldn’t accept that she had stooped so low that she couldn’t even look after herself. 

Tang Moyu shouldn’t have come back in their lives. She should have ruined the empress for good— not giving her a chance to get even with her. Alas, it seemed that the empress was favored by fate as she was even able to survive the same accident that took Tang Beixuan’s life. 

After rummaging through her drawers and designer bags, Xing Yiyue finally found what she was looking for, but it was drained of power. She plugged her mobile phone to charge and waited for a few minutes before turning it on. 

As she sat at the edge of the bed, contemplating what to do next, Xing Yiyue’s eyes dimmed as she realized that she had lost options. She was back at having a miserable life as Liang Ling. 

To think that it was her own husband who would treat her badly the most— she laughed at the absurdity of the sudden turn of events in her life. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. 

When she turned on her mobile phone, she was caught off guard at the amount of notifications that came at once. She initially thought that the public had forgotten about her but Xing Yiyue never thought that her name would be dragged into another scandal. 

The news about a group of women, pretending to be part of a high class socialite circle had been going around dragging her name as part of it. While it was true that she was indeed part of it, and through its connections she was able to meet her husband, why did they fail to name Liu Ruoyan who’d introduced her to the group? 

It didn’t take Xing Yiyue long to realize that it was because of Liu Ruoyan’s family. With the Liu family’s influence, they were able to suppress the news that may tarnish Liu Ruoyan’s reputation, especially now that she was participating in a competition. 

Xing Yiyue couldn’t believe that Feng Tianhua did nothing to stop the news from spreading. In fact, he didn’t even bother to release a statement to clear her name and protect her reputation. 

She closed her wechat and weibo, not wanting to read the comments dissing her and the other women who were once part of the group. Tears streamed down her face as she muttered ‘it’s over’ repeatedly to herself. 

Just as she thought that she had heard enough bad news for the day, the phone on her hand suddenly rang, startling her. The number flashed on her screen indicated that it came from the hospital where her older brother was admitted. 

“Hello…” she answered the call after three rings. There was something ominous about this call that made her uncomfortable. The hospital wouldn’t call her unless something wrong had happened to her brother. 

“Miss Liang, we’ve been trying to call you since last night.” The voice on the other line sounded distressed. “It’s about your brother, he…” 

The next words Xing Yiyue heard was enough for her heart to sink as her knuckles turned white as she realized that she had lost the most important person in her life. Her older brother passed away last night and she wasn’t able to see him for the last time. 

“I’m sorry, Miss Liang,” the woman on the other line said before hanging up the phone call. 

Xing Yiyue dropped her phone on the floor and wailed uncontrollably.  Why did it turn up this way? Why did he have to die so soon? He was the only person who loved her genuinely— the only person who understood her. So what was she supposed to do now? 

This was the scene that Feng Tianhua saw when he came home and checked on his wife. He scowled upon seeing her pitiful state yet the moment he remembered that this white lotus had managed to make him a fool for years was enough for him to lose sympathy towards Xing Yiyue.
