Mrs. Helan took a brief but complicated glance at Mrs. Yue and forced a smile on her face.

Out of nowhere, Helan Xiuse suddenly said, “You dropped your chopsticks, brother.”

“Oh… I must’ve dropped it by accident. I’ll get another pair,” Helan Fangnian said. He looked extremely pale and completely drained of any signs of life from his expression alone.

Mrs. Helan felt awful seeing her son like that. She said, “Your workload must’ve been extremely stressful to you lately. My boy’s always so caught up with work. It’s always on his mind and he barely has the time to watch his health.”

Mrs. Yue sighed and said, “From the looks of it, I think it’s time for Fangnian to get himself a girlfriend. The very moment he starts dating, his entire lifestyle would eventually get better. Just look at my boy Tingfeng. He was exactly like him before and look at him now; he has learned how to take a break every once in a while.”

Yue Tingfeng felt ecstatic as he playfully flicked Qingsi’s nose and said, “You hear that? She’s praising you.”

Yan Qingsi blushingly smiled as she played along.

Helan Fangnian’s mood grew increasingly awful and he simply stated, “I’m not seeing anyone at the moment since my firm had just opened. I need to focus entirely on work.”

“I’ve told my boy a million times. He’s just always so picky when it comes to women. Regular, normal girls will never get his attention. This is where he loses to Tingfeng. Say… Don’t you think that a perfect girl would only need to be thoughtful and kind? He shouldn’t be so picky at all,” Mrs. Helan added.

Hearing what Mrs. Helan said, Mrs. Yue grew increasing furious as she thought to herself just how this woman’s old habits could never die even after all these years. She had always placed herself on a pedestal as if her entire family was better than anyone else’s.

By mentioning Helan Fangnian’s terrible habit of being picky when it comes to women and how regular girls could never catch his attention, she had basically taken a jab at Tingfeng. She had indirectly called out Tingfeng for lowering his standards by settling with someone like Yan Qingsi.

Mrs. Yue knew she could no longer roll with her punches as she had been repeatedly offended by Mrs. Helan.

Mrs. Yue let out a slight chuckle and said, “Speaking of which, my boy Tingfeng had been quite lucky to have met someone so amazing and pretty like Yan Qingsi, so he seized the opportunity as soon as he laid his eyes on her. No normal folk could compare to our beloved Qingsi.”

Being repeatedly praised in one sitting made Yan Qingsi blush as she wondered if that person Mrs. Yue had praised so highly of was her.

Mrs. Helan had been repeatedly humiliated in a single meal. She felt she had lost her pride after the painfully tense lunch. She took her children and her niece and left after the meal.

As they exited, Mrs. Yue blatantly asked Mrs. Helan, “I thought you said we’re going to a facial appointment after lunch? Why aren’t you going now?”

Mrs. Helan replied with a very forced smile. “I just remembered I had some things to take care of at home. Maybe next time.”

As they got in the car, Mrs. Yue said, “I knew she had other intentions when she invited us for lunch. Always looking down on people from a pedestal. Such a pretentious lady she is.”

Yan Qingsi was surprised as she thought Mrs. Yue was a harmless and gentle old lady. However, by what she had demonstrated earlier, she seemed to have some personal vendetta with Mrs. Helan.

However, on a much deeper thought, Mrs. Helan must have done something extremely awful to Mrs. Yue in the past. Or else, she would not have been so triggered and offended today.

“Mom, don’t be mad. You did amazingly well today. I’m guessing that Mrs. Helan would need to drink two full teapots worth of tea in order to calm her nerves. Come here and let me take a closer look to make sure you’re actually my mother. Being so quick-witted and intelligent, I’m not sure I have the right person,” Yue Tingfeng teased happily.

Mrs. Yue glared at her son for a second and said, “Oh please, your mother is not always so naive alright? I just don’t want to offend anyone intentionally. I’m not as foolish as you think. I was just too lazy to respond to that woman previously. However, she had overstepped my boundaries, so tell me, how exactly can I roll with her punches? I can be patient with anyone else, but this woman, however, my patience for her had long since fleeted.”
