“I need you to do something for me.” Yue Tingfeng replied.

Yan Qingsi turned the doorknob and was pushing the door as hard as she could, but her efforts were futile. The door will not budge. She let out a long sigh of defeat as she could only wonder what was Yue Tingfeng planning to do.

Since she could not escape, all she could do was wander around his office while rummaging through his stuff. She noticed a picture of him and Mrs.Yue, him in the picture looked quite happy, both their faces were lit up with pure contempt and joy, he was hugging Mrs.Yue’s shoulder. Both their smiles in that picture looked quite beautiful.

She placed the picture back down. She was overwhelmed by plenty of mixed and heavy emotions. She knew deep down that Tingfeng’s intentions were good. Keeping her in the dark on his plans was simply protecting her.

But… She was not used to being protected by anyone. She was quite capable and used to surviving alone in this cruel and dark society. She always kept her guard up, learned to be as cunning as she could. Since the last time when she had a severe head injury, slowly bleeding out, not a single soul came to her aid. So by circumstances that she had to go through, she learned to toughen herself up, to survive and most importantly to protect her own self. But now, someone actually came up to shield her, putting her own interests before theirs.

Yan Qingsi let out another sigh. The most surprising thing that had happened in her dark and cruel life was the presence of Yue Tingfeng. His sudden intrusion in her life had completely caught her off guard.

She only wanted to use him to get back to Yan Ruke originally, however, right now, she was not sure of where she stood in this complicated mess of a relationship anymore.

Out of nowhere, a phone suddenly rang, snapping her out of her own mind. It was not Yan Qingsi’s phone that had rung, it was, however, coming from Yue Tingfeng’s phone on the desk.

She hesitated for a while, then she picked up the phone from the desk to look at the screen. It was from Mrs.Yue, and the caller ID that Tingfeng had given her was. “My very own old lady.”

This made Yan Qingsi laugh as she thought to herself just how close both of them were.

She never thought about picking up the phone call initially, she only took it to the door and gave it a few knocks just to allow Tingfeng to answer instead.

But Yue Tingfeng would not relent, he did not open the door despite the call echoing from behind.

Mrs.Yue had a weird habit of calling repeatedly until his son picked up.

This caused the phone to ring several times in a row, causing Qingsi to get increasingly conflicted, thinking perhaps she had some urgent matters to discuss with her own son, and so she finally relented and picked up the call.

The moment she answered the call, Qingsi did not have a chance to speak and was immediately bombarded by Mrs.Yue frantic nagging. “What exactly are you up to son? What took you so long to pick up my damn call. You’re always procrastinating, maybe this is why it’s taking you so long in getting the girl. I am not young anymore, stop making me worried about you, I have had constant recurring nightmares about that night because I have helped you in doing something awful last time…”

Yan Qingsi felt awkward hearing Mrs.Yue’s nagging and said. “Aunty… Your…”

This caused the nagging to stop, after a very brief moment, Mrs.Yue simply replied. “Ahem… You both are together now? Where is my son then? Had I called at the wrong moment? Should I just hang up now, so you both could continue with your…business.”

Mrs.Yue’s reply instantly made Yan Qingsi blushed hard through the phone. Her comment on continuing both their business sounded quite erotic. Was she assuming that they were making sweet passionate love right now?

Yan Qingsi frantically explained. “I am at this office, he just went out earlier, I noticed that his phone kept ringing so I answered.”

Mrs.Yue replied with a slightly higher-pitched voice. “Oh, so you went to look for him instead…”

After what felt like an eternity, she heard the door unlocking, and being pushed open, Yan Qingsi looked up and saw Yue Tingfeng. She frantically said to him. “Oh thank god you’re back, your mom was looking for you.”

Hearing what Qingsi said, he rushed over and answered the phone. “What is it, mom?”

He felt uneasy as he thought that his mother had said some things about him.

Mrs.Yue whispered to him. “I initially wanted to vent, but since Qingsi was with you, don’t let her leave, after you’re done working why don’t you invite her over to the Leisure Palace with us…”
