The tense atmosphere between the three of them was starting to attract the attention of onlookers. Everyone was quietly watching from the sidelines.

Helan Fangnian was still a rational person at heart. Suppressing his anger and also plenty of questions, his dry throat managed to croak out the standard pleasantries, “I’m sorry, I must’ve recognized the wrong person. Let me introduce myself, my name is Helan Fangnian.”

He reached out to her for a handshake but it was swiftly blocked by Yue Tingfeng.

Grabbing onto Helan Fangnian’s shoulder, he guided him forward. “Let’s go, I want to meet Xiuse. I just arrived at her coming-of-age ceremony and would like to give her her gift.”

Helan Fangnian remained rooted to the spot and said coldly, “The gift can wait. I think the most important thing right now is that we need to talk.”

Yue Tingfeng turned around to meet Helan Fangnian’s cold stare.

In that instant, hostile sparks flew between the two of them.

“Sure,” Yue Tingfeng replied. Turning over to give Yan Qingsi a peck on the cheek, he said, “Go find a place to sit, dear. Don’t go wandering around.”

That staged intimacy stung Helan Fangnian’s eyes. He clenched his fist in anger.

Yan Qingsi pushed Yue Tingfeng’s hand and walked away, not even looking at the two men.

She was used, but was she angry?

To be honest, she was not angry because she knew the number of times she used Yue Tingfeng was a lot more than this. She was not in the position to be angry at him.

Yue Tingfeng gazed at Yan Qingsi as she disappeared into the crowd and then turned around and followed Helan Fangnian outside to a secluded spot at the turn of the staircase.

He already knew what was coming when he decided to bring Yan Qingsi here.

The fight was inevitable from the start.

Yue Tingfeng took off his coat and removed his necktie. Loosening his sleeves, he said, “I’ve been wanting to hit you since forever. Come on then.”

“I knew you would find out eventually, which was why I wanted to reveal the truth myself first. I wanted to show you that Yan Qingsi is mine.”

“You knew Yan Qingsi all along. You knew from the start that she was the one I was looking for, but you hid it from me. Why didn’t you just continue to hide it from me? Why did you have to bring her here right in front of my eyes?” Helan Fangnian no longer knew if his rage stemmed from his best friend’s betrayal or Yan Qingsi’s claim of ignorance.

He had been searching for her for so long, and now, the woman he loves had appeared right in front of his eyes. However, he felt like a joke in his own story.

Their fight was evenly matched. There were no clear winners even after multiple rounds of back and forth, only two panting men, unable to continue.

Resting his panting body against the wall, Yue Tingfeng lifted his chin and goaded, “I simply figured that today was an auspicious day for you to meet my woman.”
